Judicial Confirmation Process Has Become A Joke
The National Ledger ^ | 9-14-05 | Christopher G. Adamo

Regardless of the outcome of John Roberts’ confirmation hearings, it is plain that liberal Democrats have succeeded in making the entire process a grotesque caricature of what the Founders originally intended.

As stipulated in the Constitution, the Senate has an “advise and consent” role in the appointment of Judges. Thus, the talents and wisdom of that body should properly be a worthy check on the President’s authority to make appointments.

For most of the country’s history, that method worked well. Unfortunately, during the last few decades, Democrats allowed any vestiges of wisdom to be completely supplanted by the rancor of partisan politics.

Increasingly, they seek to warp the process into a means of amassing political power far beyond that which they might have garnered at the ballot box. Unfortunately, rather than holding fast to constitutional principle and calling them to task, Republicans have allowed their underhanded tactics to proliferate.

The current process is a chacture of what was the original intent of the founders. We now see the postulations of Chuckie sumer and Joey Biden asking a very erious judge how he would rule on their pet issues and catigating the respondant for not being "forthcoming". Big time liberal BS.

yes a big joke. Just like hillereee wanting a commission on Katrina. The dem/left/libs are nothing BUT one big joke all rolled into one. Smarmy, stuffy, stale, arrogant, pompous asses. Sorry for the word but its who they are and they don't even realize it. Look at their faces for heaven's sakes. Ugly and cold and mean looking from the outside cause their hearts are the same inside. The country wants to move on but these dopes want to keep us in the same place. They have no ideas for the future cause they don't have the intelligence to begin with.

If we chose Senators the way these Bozos are trying to choose judges, the Senate would be more than half empty.

They are rude, ignorant, childish, and idiotic. They have no idea how hard the American people are laughing at them because of the pathetic picture they present.

John Roberts comes off looking like a king in this whole sorry mess.

Joke is not the best word for it, because it's not funny. Travesty is what it really is.

I dread what the 'Rats have in store for whoever is nominated to replace Sandra Day O'Conner.

I know she is needed where she is, but put Condi up!! She would do a lot of good for a long time and she would mop the floor with the mental midgets like the swimmer.

Not accurate. In the decades leading up to the Civil War, the Democrat party used many similar tactics to strangle the national debate on the issue of slavery. They imposed a gag rule in the House to forbid the mention of the topic. They stacked the Supreme Court with pro-slavery activists who produced the Dred Scott ruling (next to Roe v Wade and Plessey, the most un-constitutional rulings ever). and they even resorted to violence on the Senate floor to defend their source of money and power --- the institution of slavery.

Today, the Democrat party uses many of the same tactics to defend their sources of money and power -- the baby killing industry, the professional ambulance chasers, and the hate America Marxist lobby.

But the real intended purpose of the hearings, which should be to determine if, with his tremendous power, he will faithfully uphold the Constitution, is simply not being met.

That is downright untrue.

Ever since Gregory Peck made ads against the Bork nomination, because Peck played the lawyer in "To Kill a Mockingbird" doncha know, these hearings have degenerated into high comedy. In fact, the country would be so much better off if the Senate would be abolished. These clowns have no reason for their existence except to try to impress each other and entertain their lapdogs in the msm. Perhaps if TV was banned forever from the hearings it might help, but these fatuous parasites on the body politic might always act this way, cameras or no.

I have a feeling that the Constitutional option will be necessary for the next nominee. I think that Bush should threaten to appoint Bork in a recess appointment if they won't give whoever the nominee is a vote.

Senator Biden needs to be recalled! His lack of professionalism during the confirmation hearings
makes him appear almost adolescent!

I have a bumper sticker that says "Liberals Are Funny". They are such a simple-minded, narcissistic lot.

I did enjoy Teddy today during his attempt to trip up Roberts. He was shaking like a dog pooping razor blades.

Be careful with that bumper sticker. You're likely to get yourself shot by one of those gun-control peaceniks!
