Support of school vouchers for poor students trapped in public education.
He's prevented them from being killed by Islamic fascists.
some great responses here. . .'Good Luck' and I hope we will hear the outcome.
This thread is full of people bragging about the socialism that Bush has given us.
Bragging, on FR.
You have a point there. I think the point was to show what the President has done "for" the poor, not "to" the poor. I agree that these programs hurt the poor more than help, because they should be able to pay their own way and if not, charities can step in. The government doesn't have the monopoly on charity. You can't win with liberals- on one hand, they want the government in our lives to tell us how to live. At the same time, they want no one to tell us how to live. Either you want the government to make all decisions, by which the poor get a free pass at our expense, or you get the government out of the way and let the poor fend for themselves.
The tragedy is that the boy has to write a paper about something the teacher knows won't really become apparent for many years. When it comes to history, it can take centuries to see the impact on the world.
Our forefathers would not have known that democracy would spread to far reaches of the globe - to those who have known only monarchies and tyrants.
It may take decades to reverse the sense of entitlement of our citizens.
I agree. It's pathetic. W likes spending other peoples money. The only thing W has done is add to the growing grandiose sense of entitlement in this country.
He would be better to remember what Jesus said about the poor...you're always going to have them.
What a list so far! It would be hard for me to add to it, some are very complete in themselves.
I hope we get a firsthand report of how things went, and I'd appreciate a ping if/when that happens.
Good luck to your grandson. Good grade or bad (because of a biased teacher), this can be a milestone in his education.
Well, Sara--the questions about each ammendement of the US constitution, relationship between each branches of the government with the States are not that simple -:)))) It warrants a whole book !
Anyway, I think it's wrong to blame everything that went wrong in Katrina disaster on pres. Bush. I believe that responsibility should be shared between federal, state and local officials. Country needs to re-learn how to be prepared and respond to catastrophic events efficiently.
I specifically remember W talking about it (maybe in his first campaign) and how he needed the help those organizations provided.
Just my 2 cents.
my thinking too, here's what I sent Rush last week...

Rush, President Bush (then governor during the 2000 campaign) proposed the following, seems to me that Katrina Relief would benefit?...rto

"Armies Of Compassion
Governor Bush envisions a different role for government a role based on the belief that government should turn first to faith-based organizations, charities, and community groups to help people in need. Resources should be devolved, not just to the states, but to the charities and neighborhood healers who need them most, and should be available on a competitive basis to all organizations including religious groups that produce results. As President, Governor George W. Bush will..."
"Dingle Norwood"
thank you Sergiej how are you good friend?
I'm fine Sara--been away a bit from FR for some time -:)))) I had a little vacation so I decided to stay away from Forums to feel it's like a real vacation -:))) Now I'm back to work and FR !
How can the latter be the case with the great failure of Pakistan? Bush has given Musharraf billions and we have gotten less than nothing in return. Osama and Friends use Pakistan as their base to kill U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan with impunity. U.S. troops are forbidden from conducting operations to stop them. Porter Goss says we know were Osama is but can't get him because it would "destabilize Musharraf". Huh? Did 9/11 happen? Did I just imagine it? Was the "Bush Doctrine" just a suggestion?
my grandson is saying that he thinks the teacher decided not to do the debate
because he hasn't mentioned it to the class again. Maybe he realized that it was not appropriate....or maybe another parent stepped up and said something. I will keep you updated though...rto
Again, thanks to all for your input!!!
Thanks. I imagine you son is relieved.
I'm disappointed, I was betting he'd do good!
