Homegrown Garbage

Homegrown garbage

By: RICK REISS - For The Californian

This past weekend, Americans solemnly observed the fourth anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

At the same time, a homegrown traitor again reared his head to remind us that Islamic fascists are still busy plotting and scheming. This is no time to be complacent.

Adam Gadahn, who was raised in Winchester, is believed to be the al-Qaida spokesman on a tape released over the weekend threatening destruction upon Los Angeles and Australia. Gadahn was identified in the videotape by federal officials.

Last year, the FBI issued a bulletin seeking Gadahn for possible terrorist threats against the United States. According to the FBI, Gadahn goes by the aliases: Abu Suhayb Al-Amriki, Abu Suhayb, Yihya Majadin Adams, Adam Pearlman and Yahah.

Gadahn grew up in Riverside County on a goat farm and had a penchant for heavy metal music. He later converted to Islam at a mosque in Orange County, where he went at age 17.

We can always speculate about what prompted this "local boy gone bad" to actively advocate the overthrow and destruction of America. In the end, it was his choice and one that he will be held accountable for.

However, this is not to say that there are no cultural influences that could warp young minds into that of jihad cheerleaders or Islamic kamikazes.

In fact, just the opposite is true. American society is steeped in political correctness. Two major planks within the doctrine of political correctness are multiculturalism and diversity. In this bizarro world of neutral values, democracy is no better than totalitarianism. Islamic repression is just as good as Western free speech.

The late U.S. senator from New York, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, wrote a famous essay titled "Defining Deviancy Down." Moynihan pointed out that social norms and values once held as wholesome and normal by society were redefined by elites as value neutral.

As a result, drug abuse, crime and unwed births exploded after the 1960s, when political, academic and social leaders destigmatized such negative behaviors.

Drug-trafficking gangs, an epidemic of AIDS and broken families are the legacy of defining deviancy down.

So how would today's anti-war leftist rhetoric hold up under Moynihan's deviancy standard? Media anti-war darlings such as Cindy Sheehan continue to plunge this standard of deviancy downward.

Sheehan's recent statement to CBS news that the throat-cutting fascist insurgents in Iraq are "freedom fighters" is the epitome of moral relativism.

Hollywood propagandist Michael Moore equated the Islamic fascists in Iraq to the American Revolution's Minutemen, hence our standard of deviancy sunk even lower.

Where is the Baathist insurgent or al-Qaida terrorist who espouses "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" or the natural rights of man as exemplified in the U.S. Constitution?

Iraqi insurgents as freedom fighters? Please, put down the Kool-Aid, Cindy Sheehan.

How many other misguided youth might choose the path of hatred ---- like Adam Gadahn did ---- in our increasingly moral relativistic society? One is too many.

In America, political correctness is the madrassa that incubates contempt and hatred against our freedom-loving nation.

IMO ANYBODY who chooses to join our enemy and speak of the
murder of Americans simply because they do not bow before
a false god of a cultish rleigion of terrorism--ceases to be
an American the moment they join with our enemy. Whatever this disaffected puke is --he is NOT an American

The funny thing, at least the way I understand it, is that Pearlman isn't an alias, it's his actual birth name before he converted. I wonder if he told 'em that.

Well, he WAS an American. And what he has done is plainly treason. Now I know we throw that word around carelessly sometimes, but this guy qualifies in every sense of the word.

Most certainly AGREE. He WAS nurtured on the sweet tit of
America's liberty. And He is a bloody Traitor.(IMO).and it is a much abused term of late--but when not abused it is equally neglected. One cannot speak of patriotism without
considering the flip side of the coin.someone ought flush him down a piss pipe at gitmo.

Agreed..IMHO anyone, be he American or otherwise, who declares war on America should be considered "outlaw" in the original sense of the word....meaning outside the protection of our laws, and therefore fair game to anyone who wishes to take him out. Fair game..Open season.. and no bag limit.

"Gadahn grew up in Riverside County on a goat farm"

Goats are the "gateway" drug to Islam.
