The lead news on the welcome page is "Bush Takes Responsibility" -- beneath a photo of Bush looking downward and biting his lip. This is how Bush's remarks will be portrayed in all the MSM. The finer points -- that it's for the federal problems only, etc. -- will be lost on the great majority of the public.
The sad fact is, most people get their news in sound bites, photos, and quick videos. If you give them a juicy, negative soundbite like this, it's all they'll remember. WHY -- please someone tell me, because I'm going nuts with this -- WHY are Republicans in leadership positions and Republican strategists so stupid? If only we had another Lee Atwater . . .
