A 36-year-old woman is being held at the Cobb County (GA) Jail, facing felony theft charges after authorities say she lied about being an evacuee from New Orleans.
Officer Wayne Delk said the woman, identified as Beretta Jo Hogg of Lithonia, went to an American Red Cross shelter for evacuees of Hurricane Karina last week in Marietta and told officials she and her 8-year-old son had lost everything in the hurricane.
She filled out paperwork and left the shelter with $1,300.
Later a woman who felt sorry for Hogg and the boy took them into her home. Police say while Hogg was sleeping, the woman talked to the boy, who told her he attended a school in Stone Mountain.
The woman called 911 and police later arrested Hogg.

I knew this was going to happen. She probably wasn't the first, and certainly won't be the last. At least she was discovered and arrested! My sympathies to her son, is now another victim.

Hogg seems to be an appropriate last name.
Oh and pictures, we want pictures.

Mom goes to jail, child becomes a ward of the state. Risk vs. Reward - $1300 on one side, prison & loss of your child on the other. Of course that was never considered, just the constant scrolling crawler at the bottom of her consciousness: free money, free money, free money, free money...

One of SEVEN sex offenders relocated to Camp Edwards on Cape Cod was found to be a fleeing felon. He tried to use his FEMA Debit Card to post bail. There may be a link at WRKO's Howie Carr web-site.

The Louie Viton store in Lenox Square has already had 3 debit cards presented as payment for expensive purses.

just the constant scrolling crawler at the bottom of her consciousness: free money, free money, free money, free money... Well put. I may have to borrow that "constant scrolling crawler at the bottom of her consciousness" myself.

How did that (woman?) ever get pregnant?Shame on you. : ) My sister used to work in a baby goods store where the clerks would amuse themselves by looking at couples and wondering, "How did that (woman?) ever get pregnant?"
