Now some fresh pickings from the Hurricane Grapevine:
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (search) greeted President Bush when he arrived in Louisiana last night, and was at his side as he fielded questions on the Katrina relief efforts this morning. That quality time with the president, however, marks the mayor's first visit to the disaster area since Wednesday when Nagin pulled up stakes and moved his family to Dallas. The Dallas Morning News reports that Nagin has already bought a house in the city, and enrolled his daughter in school.
When the Mayor appeared on "Meet the Press" on Sunday from Dallas, he was never asked about his presence there, or his decision to move his family.

Timmy never asks rats tough questions.
You mean, the fair and objective Tim Russert never brought up the subject?
Well, surely he brought up the flooded buses, and the lack of food, water and security in the Superdome. Any fair and balanced host would.
So much for the (so-called) captain staying with the ship.
What next, Blanco moves to Beverly Hills?
Russert used to be a tough, but fair, interrogator. He's gone deep to the dark side, I suspect from Hate-Bush-occoccus.
So, I guess you can be Mayor and live in a different state these days?
I guess he's not too confident about his chances of being reelected next year.
Talk about bailing!! He lives in a new state? hahaha. What a jackass.
Naah. Nagin will be honored with a humanitarian award at the next DNC convention. Blanco will be keynote speaker.
What the Hell did we do to deserve this?
What the Hell did we do to deserve this?
Does Texas have an extradition agreement with LA? Maybe he thinks he can keep out of jail, where he belongs...
I don't know what happens. Can a governor (LOL!) appoint an interim mayor in this situation?
You can say that again. ha ha
Nagin was the person who called for a moratorium on press conferences.....all the while putting himself in front of a TV camera and microphone...what a hypocrite.
Speaking of which...just when is Nagin's mayoral term over? Not his political career -- which was probably over as of last week -- but his term of office?
Also, have I missed it, or have Jackson, Sharpton, and the other "brothers" been less than outraged at Nagin's cut-and-run action?
He'd be a sure shot for Mayor of Dallas considering the way the city council behaves.
Once again GMTA. (Imagin the reaction to this cut-and-run if Mr. Nagin were the white mayor of N.O.)
That's some commute. Does the State of LA have to pay for travel expense. A smart politican would have purchased a home in his home state . Doesn't say much about him. And again he gets a free media pass.
