The Dem playbook
The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:
Kennedy -- civil rights
Leahy -- Bybee torture memo
Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment
Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties
Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade
Feingold -- limits of executive powers
Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

I guess it's his way of doing it I am not appreciating. He sounds so annoyed at Roberts. ...sounds like an attack dog, ......maybe he's seen some of our posts......and is trying to redeem himself. I still think hes a weeny and a milk toast and all those things for going with that gang of idiots in filibusters and all this is just making him look ridiculous,,,,,,,,,its not his nature
Are you familiar with the ACLU?
Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
You took the bait...you took the bait!
Thank you - I relish any opportunity that I may have to excoriate that pompous windbag. And to think I once lived in New York (shudder). I'll take my Senators (Judd Gregg and John Sununu) over theirs (Evita and the Putz) any day.
As much as LG ticks us off, remember that he was a brilliant prosecutor.
LG gonna take some stabs at Ruth Buzzy Ginsbers now.
They don't like his supporting McCain among other things. They feel he's not representing their interests. He's a RINO in their opinion, and they don't take it lightly because his voters thought they were voting for a real conservative to fill Strom Thurmond's seat. In other words, he's weak. You see the evidence right here today.
LG wants to show that it should be okay to be a conservative and you don't have to apologize for it. LG is doing conservatives a favor.
He's grandstanding.
Everyone must understand. Lindsey is in TROUBLE. Ravenal is a well funded candidate that came in second in S.C. Republican primaries. It's a conservative state. It's a state that picked G.W.B. over McCain and ruined McCain's chances in 2000. It's a state that is furious over his actions with the Judge PACT, desire to raise taxes, questioning of the war, association with McCain.
Lindsey isn't trying to trip Roberts. He doesn't care that Roberts is there. He is trying to make his name as being a STRONG proponent of Reagan and come out of these hearings back in the good graces of his constituents.
That's all this is, nothing more.
And it changes nothing Linds. I'm still supporting ravenal in '08. :-)
I hope you're right.
Yes, I see now he is describing Ginsberg.
Well, Roberts can hardly comment on that either.
Yep.
I get it now....
Graham knows Roberts is going to be confirmed and is setting up the confirmation fight for the next nominee. He's trying to grab the middle back from the Democrats and say there's nothing wrong with a lawyer advocating conservative positions for his or her client.
No, he's not grandstanding; he's mocking the Democrats.
It's pretty clever.
He is "acting" hostile in order to show the Roberts will not answer questions from either side and also to prove that Roberts is a conservative.
Yes, LG is grandstanding. He is throwing the crap right back in the dems' faces. Good for him.
Yes! He is double daring the dems to NOT vote for Roberts by using Ginsberg.
OK, now I'm in tune with Lindsay "on this."
Exactly.
Believe me, this was done for a specific purpose.
UH ok, Maybe your right, he's calming down a bit now.....
