The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:

Kennedy -- civil rights

Leahy -- Bybee torture memo

Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment

Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties

Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade

Feingold -- limits of executive powers

Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

Well in a way that's what this is all about. They've been eviscerating the Constitution with words for years.

Roberts just addressed an issue that bothered conservatives, that is assisting in the Denver case that ultimately led to the overturning of Webster.

Roberts said that he never turned down anyone in his law firm that asked for assistance in arguing before the Supreme Court; that a good lawyer could argue both sides in a case. A lawyer never stands in the shoes of his client. He re-emphasized that he never turned down ANYONE in his firm who asked for assistance.

This is as we thought.

Yeah, it's coming...

But Specter warmed him up, Roberts will put Leaky down just like Specter.

He is their intellectual superior.

What makes him superior is his humble way.

Leaky slurring his way through his opening statement!

He isn't right, time has caught up to him. I suspect he'll read what his staff wrote but when he strays from his prepared text he'll sound foolish.

Don't fool yourself... this is one evil dying freemason.

That is a tasteless remark. Hopefully, this thread will proceed with no more of those.

Why doesn't Leahy just say Iraq?

We know that's what he's talking about.

Leahy the Leaker is now asking about a memo Roberts wrote regarding a bill paying money to soldiers who served in Lebanon.

Roberts didn't want congress dictating where the troops are stationed.

Leaky finds this "troubling"...I find it WONDERFUL that Roberts thinks the President can command the troops and not the Congress. See, the CONSTITUTION is perfectly clear, LEAKY...
