It's a safe bet that there simply isn't enough capacity.Actually LA DWP is a public utility and was accused and sued for overcharging the state ISO during our "fiasco" just like Enron.
DWP has surplus capacity but much of Southern CA is covered by So Cal Edison, there's where the shortages occur.
Those of us on DWP didn't even suffer rate increases.

Reports are that the power outage is attributed to a woman name H. Clinton and a malfunctioning electric 'vibratory' device.

Down here in Long Beach, we have power.

Other than Lincoln, has there ever been a president who has had to deal with so many problems? I can't help but feel sorry for this guy who has been thrown one thing after another...from the day he stepped foot in office.
THANK GOD WE HAVE HIM AS PRESIDENT!

What's the weather like in L.A. today - extraordinarily hot? Could this be a mere "brownage" type situation, or are they talking about something worse?

Al-Qaida tape said to threaten attacks on LA, Melbourne
Monday, September 12, 2005 at 07:08 JST NEW YORK In a communique coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the Sept 11 attacks on New York and Washington, a suspected al-Qaida operative has threatened attacks against Los Angeles and Melbourne, ABC News reported.
"Yesterday, London and Madrid. Tomorrow, Los Angeles and Melbourne, God willing. At this time, don't count on us demonstrating restraint or compassion," the 11-minute videotape reportedly warns.

Dammit! Why isn't Bush down there with a flashlight and a bicycle powered generator peddling power back to LA! People are suffering! IMPEACH IMPEACH! </sarcasm>

The DWP guy probably spilled coffee on the control panel. Spilling coffee on the control panel is not what causes the problem. The problems generally begin once the wiping down of the control panel begins.

Yeah this is ALL Bush's fault, and has nothing do to with the ENVIRONMENTALIST that managed to stop any new Refineries being built, nuclear power plants, etc....
The Energy companies tried to warn us 25 years ago, but no one wanted to hear it.
What is amazing to me is how this is some how the Republicans fault..
