From what I've learned about this company this morning, it's a great resource for having accurate news archives. At some point, for kicks, I'm going to get DVDs from them that cover election day Nov 2000 and Nov 2004, starting with the closing of the polls in the Eastern Time Zone, and going for eight hours, and both inauguration days, eight hours each day. That would be eight DVDs altogether, two disks for each election day, and two disks for inauguration day, four hours each disk. This is a GREAT resource. I think I'd like to get the main eight hours showing FOX News coverage of the day President Reagan was laid to rest. I taped that. I hadn't cried that much since 9-11 happened. And from talking to them, these people at Track News seem to be conservative, so I hope this gets around and a lot of people order coverage of important events from them. Great company.
Kudos for that go to Prime Choice, whose graphic work is excellent, and whose commentary is always pointed.
Thanks. The WTC and the sky with skyline is actually a composite of three disparate images. The whole picture is a composite of five distinctly different images altogether.
Thanks for the more technical info-- I did all my businesses ad photography many years ago-- when you had to mix chemicals, dilute and attemperate them... this new digital stuff leaves me speechless.
Yeah isn't is an awsome picture? Sad but beautiful collage. The text really makes it even more powerful.
Yeah, I was surprised that FOX didn't offer a DVD of their coverage on 9-11-01, even if it was 2 DVD's not just 1. Big deal. I'm glad I found that company Track News that you can buy DVDs of VHS of basically as many hours as you want, from whatever station you want, since they archive all news broadcasts, mostly for entities that want it, but they do it for individuals also, for 75% off, so individuals can have it for their own archival libraries. Their number is (800)949-6397 if you are interrested. Ask for Cindy and tell her you saw the post here. What they offer seems like the most perfect possible thing to get if you're wanting a "live" coverage "as it happened" standpoint to remember what it was like as it happened on 9-11. The liberal media has gone so far out of their way to bury the truth of 9-11, these DVDs are very valuable as a tool for future generations.
Then it may come as no surprise to you that I put myself through college working in a photofinishing laboratory (it was through this that color correction became second-nature to me). And up until I went fully digital in photography, I had a darkroom running in my home. I still have the half-height fridge, film tanks, chemical jugs, print trays, wash tank, and Bogen enlarger. :o)
Not surprised at all- there's a certain amount of cross-coupling and carryover with artistic talent.
Ever seen some of August Rodin's drawings for his sculptures? They are beautiful in their own right.
My wife's a musician, but has some talent for oil painting, and my Dad used to draw some of the most sarcastic cartoons I've ever seen- this from a very literal engineer.
My darkroom sounds somewhat like yours- I let it grow fallow, but the double-rail Besseler with the cold light head still looms on its bench. I mostly use the main sink ( laundry-tub size ) for shaving, since it's in an outbuilding I can access without waking the wife by trudging up the stairs every morning.
Can anyone help FReeper Allen H out here?
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
if you find one let me know
Throw in a tape of NBC so you can watch that total moron Katie What's Her Face ask "why don't these airline pilots know how to fly" or "what is with these air traffic controllers".
Anybody have the video or transcript of that gem?
Try the CSPAN website.
