Uh....let's see if I understand this. Bush gave more to Louisiana because he was running a surplus (for a whole 8 months until 9-11-01) then Clinton did because Clinton was left with a deficit from Reagan. I thought the DNC talking points were that Clinton had a surplus and Bush spent us into a deficit.
"And I wish Chris had asked her why flooding money was diverted to a casino, convention center and bike path." I heard on the radio somewhere that she had cooked the books to divert funding. Maybe she's a closet Reagan?
Oh alright...but I may need a new monitor after I watch this. This woman has made me SO angry over the last 10 days...I can't stand her. She is just beyond belief.

Acc. to Landrieu, folks down there need mass transit. Had NO had mass transit, everyone would have left.
No response to the hundreds of buses lying under water. I guess buses don't qualify as mass transit.
I'll say it again: People need to get rid of those anachronistic, elitist Dems. Clean up the South once and for all.

I saw the interview, and Chris reminded her she had just pointed the finger at the current administration. This was just after she went on and on about partisan finger pointing.
Chris also asked her about the buses not being used, and she went on and on about them being flooded, it not being possible to use them to evacuate anyone.
Chris tried to remind her they were not flooded on Saturday, but she wouldn't let him get in a word.
Chris finally reminded her that this works better when he is able to ask questions, or some such.
She came off like a complete loon. If I were her handlers, I'd be ripping her a new one, and remind her that the best way to stop digging the hole deeper is to stop digging.
I did not watch, but I bet Tim Russert was being compassionate in questioning her. Along the lines of...."Senetor, I know you and your people have gone through a lot because of Bush, but I want you to tell me how you are feeling now!"....
Oh no....then you missed her claiming that the reason nagin didn't dispatch the school buses to evacuate the people is because (and I paraphrase a bit here)
this mayor and mayors in cities all over this country have enough trouble getting people to work on a sunny day, let alone on a day of a hurricane and that's because this administration doesn't support mass transit!

Yeah..and somebody better inform Mary about those Reagan deficits. While there may have been a deficit, the revenues to the government were still doubling...which means Dems were spending money on everything EXCEPT those levees.
This is even more outrageous when you consider that Clinton spent less that GW when he had record surpluses. There is no excuse for what the Dems in congress and at the state/local levels have done in Louisisana.
I saw the beginning of this live but had to click off when that vicious smarmy puke Mary Landrieu evaded the question about the wasted school buses by launching into a rant about the need for more federally funded mass transit.
Now I've watched the whole thing from the posted link and I'm even more nauseous. She is a perfect example of a weasel politico evading every question and filling the air time with her own rants. This is useful, though, for a glimpse of the developing DNC talking points: they are desperate to deflect all blame from state and local 'RATS in LA and NOLA, and also the Clinton administration, so they will change the subject every time relevant comparisons are made. LA pols preferred pork to protecting NOLA? Clinton spent less than Bush on LA flood control? Mayor Nagin wasted hundreds of empty buses??? None of it matters to 'Rats in a rage, they simply change the subject and spew their own talking points. Chris Wallace did a pretty good job of trying to get her to give a straight answer, but the only thing that might have worked would be to tape her mouth shut and answer for her. She was NOT going to give an honest answer.....
I figure she's on the attack because her only other option would be to be on the defensive, an even worse place for a Louisiana Democrat to be, not because she'll stand to gain politically from it.
I saw Landrieu on FOX and she wilted under the tough questioning by Chris Wallace. She was visibly nonplussed and hostile. She couldn't say why Mayor "schoolbus" Nagin failed to utilize hundreds of busses to evacuate people and left them to be flooded; why the governor didn't allow the Red Cross entry when they were ready to go; and, why much of the allocated funds for flood control and levee maintenance were diverted by Landrieu for pork. She tried to filibuster about Bush but it was very obvious that this was just a ruse to avoid answering questions about the failures of the governor, the mayor, and Senator Landrieu which were made abundantly obvious by Wallace's questions. She squeaked into office the last time she ran for senator and she clearly knows that after the flood debacle she's political toast.

She ran right over Chris Wallace, but I think he's a real girly man. She never answered a question he threw at her but just kept yakking away to suit herself. Wallace is no Brit Hume who shot down Juan Williams this evening.
UGH...now I need Tums AND Tylenol! What a waste of space and air.
