Is it Mary's brother or brother-law that is LT Gov of LA [or AG]? He has an elected office in the state. And is Landrieu her married name or her maiden name?

From the Times picayune
Mayor Nagin speaks out
By Gordon Russell
Staff writer
In a stark reminder of how drastically Hurricane Katrina has impacted the lives of New Orleanians, Mayor Ray Nagin has purchased a home for his family in Dallas and enrolled his young daughter in school there.
Nagin, who spoke with The Times-Picayune by telephone from Dallas, where he has been since Wednesday, said he planned to return to New Orleans on Saturday. He said he will remain in the Crescent City while his family lives for the next six months in Dallas, making occasional visits to his family when possible.
Its not clear where Nagin will be living: His home along Bayou St. John suffered massive flooding, the mayor said, although he has not inspected it.

OK, found the answer, in Dallas, that figures. Dallas isn't really "Texas" anymore. As an aside, Dallas has the largest population of Wiccans in Texas. Not suprised some folks from NO chose Dallas. Betcha Anne Rice skedaddled up there, too.

"Landrieu" is her maiden name. Her father was "Moon" Landrieu, a former mayor of NO and HUD secretary under Jimmuh Carter.
Yes, his son (Mary's brother, Mitch) is Lt. Governor of Louisiana.
And yes, Moon was corrupt. VERY.

It is never ok and it is certainly not fairbut it is reality in Washington D.C.
Sometimes, it must be done to reframe public perception, even if it is flat out wrong. Once the public perceives something in a certain way, it is next to impossible to change it by exposing the misconception.
There have been times when it was the wrong thing, but many, many times when it was the right thing. Political calculations are made for better or worse.
I think almost everyone who takes a high profile job in D.C. understands that. You may have to sacrifice yourself for the greater good. If you don't know that going in, you are blatantly naive.
I have to say, that is why the Washington life is so much more difficult for people like MRS. Brown and MRS. Bush. It takes a lot more courage and guts to hear that being said about someone you love, than to deal with criticism directed at yourself.

Donations to the two past presidents go directly to OFFICIALS in Louisiana government, directly to the folks for other organizations.
