Is it Mary's brother or brother-law that is LT Gov of LA [or AG]? He has an elected office in the state. And is Landrieu her married name or her maiden name?

"Landrieu" is her maiden name. Her father was "Moon" Landrieu, a former mayor of NO and HUD secretary under Jimmuh Carter.

Yes, his son (Mary's brother, Mitch) is Lt. Governor of Louisiana.

And yes, Moon was corrupt. VERY.

From wikipedia: Landrieu (born November 23, 1955) is a Democratic United States Senator for the state of Louisiana. She is daughter of former New Orleans mayor Maurice Edwin "Moon" Landrieu and the sister of current Louisiana Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu.

And lets not forget her aunt Phillis on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans school system

From her senate home page we also have "Sen. Landrieu is married to Frank Snellings, an attorney from Monroe. They have two children, Connor and Mary Shannon. The daughter of former New Orleans Mayor and U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Moon Landrieu and Verna Landrieu, Sen. Landrieu is the eldest of nine siblings and the proud aunt of 36 nieces and nephews."

Oh, and her Senate page also has her As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Landrieu is a strong and effective voice for Louisiana, while bringing her record of fiscal discipline to the committee that approves more than $300 billion in federal discretionary spending annually. From her seat on one of the most powerful panels on Capitol Hill, she fights for Louisiana’s jobs and economic interests. In addition, she serves on several appropriations subcommittees of great importance to Louisiana, including Agriculture, Labor, Health and Education, and Military Construction.

Military Construction...anything to do with the Corps of Engineers? Y'know, the people who do things like build and maintain levees?
