A Tampa Tribune investigation has found previous ethical lapses in the work of Brad Smith, a former Tampa Tribune reporter who fabricated parts of a story in April.

(Note: Have not seen this at the Trib's website, only in today's print edition.) The story is about an article this sweetie wrote about a "hair removal salon," but for those of us in the Tampa Bay area who have looked on in disgust as the Trib, starting around '92 (after being bought by Reid Ashe's Media General) went from a pro-American paper to an anti-Judeo-Christian, anti-American one, this clown is probably best known for a front-page article he did (with the Trib's TV critic, Walt Belcher) when the al-Qaeda terrorists burned the bodies of American contractors in Fallujah, of a "report" which basically said that it was "Bush's Watergate" (that's not an exact quote but close). His frequent attacks on those who believe in traditional values have been nauseating. Not surprised to see he's a bleach blond, but surprised he's 51 (got the impression from his writings he was a thirty-something nosering "Florida Equality Now" disco bunny). Well, Brad darling, at least there's always Weekly Planet to write for...

Sounds like The New York Times could be getting another ace reporter.

Sounds like a real sweetie pie. What you want to bet that after the smoke and uproar from the storm settles a bit ther'll be a slow purge of the newsies that went stupid in print and on TV. Ah, well we can always hope.

A good start, now let's get rid of Dan Ruth, and any affiliation with the POYNTER institute.

As a native Tampa boy, I just had to say Ruth should stay! Don't fire him - his ascerbic screeds are often funny.
But it would be nice if he were to become a tad more of a strict Constitutionalist.

There once was a time when American newspapers believed in printing the truth, no matter who it hurt.
Now, there we have a generation of journalists who believe in agendas, no matter who they hurt.

In a society predicated upon liberty, personal morality is not an option, it is a prerequisite. Mr. Ruth practices uniformed character assassination, and gets paid for it by people like you who tolerate it and think it is funny. I oppose shameless drivel at every opportunity. You must know how many people he has tried to ruin. He has rarely apologized for any of his many errors.

Yup, I know. We moved our refrigertor to clean under it and I was surprised to see how many lib reporters were under there.

Well, Brad darling, at least there's always Weekly Planet to write for... Liberals always think they're "still 17 inside" and in full rebellion against their "parents". These are the same liberals who usually push the idea that 13 year olds are adults - probably out of jealousy that 13 year olds really are young and they're just old and delusional.
