Someone needs to remind these idiots that it was Fl Gov. Lawton Chiles that didn't ask for Fed aid until after he complained to the media that it wasn't there. If I remember it correctly, then Pres. Bush 41 noted to the press that the law required that the governor request fed assistance... Sort of like today only 12 years ago..

Of course, since my brain is 12 years older then it was in '92, it leaks a lot more, so I could be remembering it wrong....

Florida's Democrat governor Lawton Chiles did the same thing [delayed asking for Fed help] after Andrew, and then he complained about FEMA's slow response. A bureaucrat's prime directive is "Cover your behind at all costs, and if you can blame your enemies in the process, so much the better."

Yes, I found that more than 'interesting'....highly revealing. No aid to the people and no evacuation.... we'll just blame it all on BUSH! How on earth Gov. Blankhead and people on her staff could not fathom that they needed a ton of buses to evac the Superdome and the Convention Center..... everyone was ripping on the feds, but those are the kinds of issues that are purely local/state.

They had 4,000 troops on standby on SUNDAY to help police New Orleans. What happened to these troops???
