'BIMBO' BLONDES BLOWN OUT
Sky News ^ | 9/5/2005 | Sky News

Gentlemen apparently no longer prefer blondes.

Instead, they would rather choose the brains and sophistication more often associated with brunettes.

That is according to a study into hair colour and the intensity of attraction, which showed 51% of men thought brunettes were more attractive.

Researchers at City University showed 1,500 men three pictures of the same model digitally enhanced as a blonde, a brunette and a redhead.

They were then asked to give their impressions of the model's personality based on her hair colour.

Brunettes were described as intelligent by 81%, while 67% described them as independent and self-sufficient.

Two-thirds of the men (62%) said the brunette women appeared stable and competent.

The blonde model was described as needy and lacking in independence by four out of ten.

Redheads were thought to be intelligent by 79% of the men, although 45% described them as neurotic.

City University Professor of Psychology Peter Ayton led the research commissioned by hair products company Sunsilk.

He said blonde hair had historically been seen as a symbol of youth which was attractive to men, but added: "As the role of women has evolved, men's expectations of women have changed.

"They're looking for more intense, equal partnerships and appearance has a large role to play."

Now they think brains are hair, and they can create them with dye. And they wonder why we think they are stupid.

Sociologist Leah Smith is sure that a blond bombshell with no credentials will get a job before a flat-chested Plain Jane with lots of skill and experience, so she morphs into "Candi-with-an-I" Devereaux.

So true! Most of the time they are way overdone they look ridiculous! Going from a 32a to a 40ddd - not a good idea, girls. Best to just keep it real!

Anybody who simply prefers CZJ for her brains is blind.

And hasn't read anything she's said, bless her heart.

I believe Trillian was dark haired on the radio series and in the books. The casting on the 1982 was horrendous, anyway. The new movie isn't much better.

I tried the free portion of Eharmony out of curiosity, I'm not actively looking for a romance right now, and I did'nt care for their questions either - many of them I could not honestly answer, or my answer was too complicated to be covered by one answer. They found me 4 matches, all with kids (not looking to raise other's kids, sorry), and all striking me as typical, neurotic, "princess" types. I had zero interest in any of them.

I tend towards skinny, short redheads, myself. A temper is good, and I honestly like "bitches" - I love a woman who can stand up and defend herself.

I was going to post a long-winded rant about the dating scene in America these days, and American women in general, but it's been posted about here and elsewhere many times before, what i have to say is nothing new these days. The majority of American women are damaged goods, but I'm still on the watch for one of the good ones to come along. I'm also finding I really, really like Irish women, who were born and raised there. Dunno if that's good or bad, but it's worth exploring.

I'm taking a sabbatical from dating, anyway. I'm too bitter and worn out from being in the trenches here in Northern Cal. When I go on dating sites like match.com and Eharmony, i see too many profiles that bash conservatives (even though the values they seek are conservative), or flat out say 'Republicans need not apply". Yeesh. (And it's usually some humorless granola eating Birkenstock wearing Earth mother type, too - like I'd see that and say, gotta have it!)

Dating is just too wierd, and fraught with peril these days. I'm sitting it out for a while.

I haven't been in a serious relationship in 3-1/2 years. I have plenty to occupy my time so it's not much of a priority anymore and I have saved myself a ton of hassle and judgement. Anytime I try to get back into dating, I'm quickly reminded why I shouldn't bother with it anymore. If it happens naturally, I'm okay with that but I'm just not actively looking anymore.

And they wonder why we think they are stupid.

I remember a stand-up comic who told the following joke:

A guy wanders through a field and begins talking to God. "God, why do you make women so beautiful?" God answers "So you'll like them." The guy then asks "Why do you make them so soft?" God answers "So you'll like them." The guy pauses, thinks for a moment and then asks "So, God, why do you make women so stupid?" And God answers "So they'll like you."

In my younger days a heartbeat and respiration were the only things that mattered.

Wow! You were picky! For me, she just had to be warmer than 84 degrees!
