Sean Penn: Hero In New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana (AHN) - Actor Sean Penn has been hailed as a hero and a huge helpful hand, saving up to 45 people in hurricane-torn Louisiana, despite finding and having to deal with a hole in his boat last week.
"I witnessed him rescuing up to 40 people," presidential historian and author Douglas Brinkley told the New York Daily News. "He was up to his waist in toxic muck...I'm not going to comment on Sean's trips to Iraq or Iran, but in this case, he was an American hero."
During an interview on CNN's Larry King Live, Penn said there was not enough being done to help to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
"Most of the National Guard presence was in the air," Penn says. "They were doing a great job, those that were there. But there weren't enough there."
wow, Penn is busy having his publicist make sure his "heroics" make the press sheets. Such a ham to the core.
Yeah. Not everyone has their own entourage. Only special people.
I wish I had one.
While its not nice to dis on someone trying to help, you have to wonder about someone who doesn't put the drain plug in his boat cauding it to take on water,
has to be rescued himself,
has a boat full of PR people leaving no room to pick up anyone or so it has been reported.
We may never know the real heros who have no Hollywood PR machine.
Even if he's only saved one person's life, he's done more than Teddy Kennedy!
Brinkley must want to run for office in LA. He is snuggling up to Hollywood types. Found something, but it doesn't mention 40 people.

New York: Hollywood actor Sean Penn took matters into his own hands by launching a boat in a personal effort to rescue families stranded in New Orleans.
According to The New York Daily News, the Oscar-winning actor and political activist managed to reach several people who had been trapped in their homes since Hurricane Katrina hit on Monday.
Penn, who was accompanied by his personal photographer and a crew of helpers, brought the victims to dry land - and gave them cash as well.
Johnnie Brown, 73, a retired custodian, called his sister on a cell phone after being plucked from his flooded house. "Guess who come and got me out of the house? Sean Penn the actor. Them boys were really nice," he said.
Penn later accompanied a few of them to a hospital.

I saw a pic of Penn this AM on TV. Apparently on the first page of a newspaper.
He was 'patroling' a street with a shotgun.
His press agent was quick to point out the shotgun was unloaded.
And when Penn runs for president, they'll have to go back and reprint the book to fix all the 'errors' that are pointed out by people that on other rescue boats in the NO area. :)
Wow. Forty people. And those guys in the helicopters rescued thousands. Yep. He's a hero. Of course, the helo crews and rescue swimmers don't have their own PR team going with them making press releases. And all those nameless, faceless rednecks (and that is a very complimentary term, folks) who showed up with their own bass boats and airboats that spent days in the streets of NOLA - well, they're not heros either. But Sean - he rescued 45 people. Whoop de f***.
Personally, I would think a historian would make a more precise witness statement than "up to 40 people." And "dealing with a hole in his boat?" Why not mention that he couldn't get the motor to run properly either?
I'm thinking we need to pull all the Feds, military, and everyone else out of NOLA, and let Hollywood run the rescue. They're so much more capable than the experts. After all, they've saved the world several times over at the studios.

Anytime the likes of a scank Madonna drops you, that says a lot. There is no way he could have saved that many people, the size of that boat is a joke.

I notice its was a short trip how many days was he there, till he had to return to his normal life, some people might even stay till the end, like true people do, Penn would never last the pace long term, quick visit and back home kind of man. just enough time to massage his ego again.
Anyone who has to lug an entourage around with him (including a cameraman) to save people doesn't need little ole me to send praise his way - he's already made sure he'll get the praise and attention he thinks he deserves.
