Cortraire. The people who were actively working to elect the person who came in THIRD (and a distant third at that) were just the same as working for Bustamonte.

Last election Arnold refused to campaign for any Republican challengers. He had his picture taken with all of them months before the election, but would not release them to the candidates.
He only campaigned for R incumbents that were in "safe" seats.
He did all this to keep from upsetting Dims so that they would cooperate with him if they should win.
Not one seat changed hands and his "girlie-man" strategy
came back to bite him in the butt. How do I know? I was campaign-chairman for a candidate who got 39% of the vote in a district with only 27% Republican registration.

But he did a lot to get Bush elected, right? /sarcasm

Not California. We drove most Demoncrats out of MY State years ago. They ruled virtually all statewide offices about 20 years ago. We got rid of them when we drove out turncoat Republicans. Any Republican that did not support the Republican who won the primary was never given another penny from the party and most people in it.
Unfortunately, California has not done that yet. They still allow other "Republicans" to stab everyone in the back by running as "independent" or "libertarian" or something else when they know that they will ONLY draw votes from the Republican. Consequently, the Demoncrats around here got it year after year with less than half the vote.
BTW, several of the Republicans thrown out tried to get elected as something else. As far as I know, not a single one was ever elected again. Good riddance.

Davis was a moderate.
A harder core democrat would be a disaster for the business interests in the state. Arnie was just beginning to turn things around with dramatically lower Work-comp rates.
...I can't think about it anymore...just too scary...

Yep... as long as they have an (R) by their name, everything is just great, huh?
You must be from the Warren Buffet wing of the (R) party, huh?

"We got rid of them when we drove out turncoat Republicans. This sounds like something someone from the GOP Big Tent full of RINOs, librals and moderates, might say.

Newsflash: the lock in redistricting made it impossible for any effort to ouster a Democrat in the legislature. We need to get the reform agenda passed.
If you're not for Arnold, you're for Gov. Lockyer.

Ok Jim... I've read your FR home page and it is abundantly appearant you can't tell a liberal from a conservative since you are Norton working in the sewer system and only know that that smelly stuff only falls one direction!!!
You are completely off base in your attempt to continue the strange allegation that ANYONE on FR ever wanted a Bustamante victory. So stop being absurd and apologize to calcowgirl since you know nothing about the sad workings of the CA-GOP "leadership."
Before you come back and try to argue your mistaken idea, we can already see you have no concept of the totally wide open nature of a Recall election with no primary! So you've already pulled your own covers as to you being misinformed. Therefore... Give it up before you really hurt yourself further!!!

Did this week teach you nothing at all? An (R), however much a RINO, is far better than any (D) who would get elected statewide.
Just who do you have in mind, anyway? You're opposed to McClintock's positions on 76 so who is your pick? I'll take dream and realistic (can win statewide) both.

Did this week teach you nothing at all? I learn something new every day.
I need look no further than your post #35: "If you're not for Arnold, you're for Gov. Lockyer."
Since Lockyer is running for treasurer, not governor, I confirmed just how misinformed some people are.
To: newzjunkey
Did this week teach you nothing at all? Like what? His veto on marriage?
lmao.
He SAYS he supports the will of the people in Proposition 22, but he signs legislation that subverts marriage in all but name.
First there was AB205.
On September 19, 2004, Governor Schwarzenegger signed Assembly Bill 205, thereby enacting the California Domestic Partner Rights and Responsibilities Act of 2003 (the Act).
From another source:
Assembly Bill (AB) 205 marks a new twist in the fiery national battle over homosexual unions by bestowing hundreds of spousal duties and privileges on domestic partnerships registered in California. State records show about 5,000 new domestic partnerships were registered in the state in 2004. California's registry now contains the names of roughly 28,000 couples, including gays and heterosexual senior citizens.
Then there's AB 2208):
Governor Schwarzenegger signed another bill requiring insurance companies offering policies in the state to provide homosexual domestic partners with coverage equal to that of married spouses.
He didn't lift a finger to stop gay marriage ceremonies in San Francisco and has signed "domestic partners" legislation that violates in spirit, if not in letter, Proposition 22. The rest is posturing for the benefit of people like you.
The veto on SB60? He continues to negotiate with Cedillo on drivers' licenses for illegals.
Grow up junkey. You don't have the facts to back up your posturing.
