I Cannot Sit Quietly Any Longer
OpinionEditorials.com ^ | September 9, 2005 | Robin Mullins Boyd

Posted on 09/09/2005 7:52:48 AM PDT by Chickenhawk Warmonger

I spent most of the day beating my head against a wall. Figuratively speaking that is. I dared respond to website claiming that President Bush’s visit to New Orleans delayed delivery of food and disaster supplies. Of course, I countered with the Red Cross being forced to sit on the sidelines by the Louisiana Dept of Homeland Security. Big mistake – trying to confront a Liberal with facts is like trying to make Michael Moore stop eating. I ended up in an email duel with someone that’s sole purpose in life is to bash President Bush. In my head, I knew it was a lost cause but my heart said, “Fight back”.

After being blasted with “facts” from Wikipedia (the online encyclopedia that anyone and their toddler can edit), I gave up. I could only take being told, “You probably didn’t make it past 8th grade” for so long. The old Liberal game of name-calling and insults gave me a stomachache.

After a 30-minute shower and some Mylanta, I began thinking about all of the ridiculous claims and finger pointing that has continued since August 28. So much hate and nastiness while bodies of the poor souls that were unable to escape Hurricane Katrina’s wrath floated in the toxic water. It was a morbid undercurrent of disgusting glee from the Liberals – maybe all the dead and suffering would finally be President Bush’s downfall. It began with Robert Kennedy Jr’s bogus rant that President Bush’s environmental policies caused the hurricane. And it has gone downhill from there.

Unlike the Republicans from years ago, I cannot be silent any longer. I cannot take this continuous disrespectful, hateful nastiness and vat of lies any more. I could spend the next three days writing individual letters to those that have participated in the dance of glee for the ravages of the hurricane. My anger is much too high to take that length of time to get my message out there. So here goes…

I am sick and tired of you on the Left calling MY President names and impugning his integrity. I have had enough of the incessant bleats of “selected – not elected” and “not my President”. You do not deserve a President that takes his oath of office seriously and puts America first. You do not deserve a President that makes faith a priority in his life. You do not deserve a President that operates from a position of high moral clarity. You deserve a President that thinks only of him and what he can get out of being in the highest office in the land. You deserve a President that has no moral clarity and lies about lies about lies. You deserve a President who thinks that terrorism should take a back seat to his legacy. Wait a minute…You had that for 8 years.

I could care less about issues of “black and white”. In my world, there are no color boundaries. I may not like you but it is not because of your skin color. Playing the race card to such an extent as it has been in the post-Katrina environment is beyond the point of despicable. I am just waiting for one of the African American leaders to lie about an attack on a young black girl by young white men in order to stir the racism pot. Wait a minute…that has already happened.

I am disgusted by your lack of integrity. To heck with the truth, you just can’t handle it. The truth hurts because it means that President Bush is not a failure. I am surprised that you have not stooped to the level of stealing, forgeries and lies bigger than any fisherman could dream about. I am just waiting for a story to hit the media about someone stuffing top-secret documents in their socks and pants to shift the blame for September 11, 2001 to the Bush Administration. Wait a minute…that has already happened.

I am appalled at your blatant hatred of 51% of Americans and America. The name of the game is to get back in power. Bad things happening to Americans are good in a Liberal’s point of view. More death and destruction means lower approval ratings for the President. I am just waiting for you to convince a grieving mother to defile her son’s proud military service by saying that “America is not worth dying for”. I dread the day that anti-war protestors stage demonstrations with “Maimed for a Lie” posters outside of Walter Reed Hospital where soldiers are recuperating. What a minute…you’ve already done that.

Nothing you do anymore surprises me. It still makes me sick but the shock value has worn off. It makes me sad to see MY country that I love and support tarnished with the poisonous venom spewed from you. It breaks my heart to hear you claim to support the soldiers while claiming they have murdered thousands of innocent Iraqis. My final words to you should sound familiar – they are the same as your darling Teresa Heinz Kerry. Just shove it you idiot scumbags.

You are right, of course. But that is not the "story". Cynically the press has never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

He would have come out far better just to ignore the whole thing.

He might have been able to save his skin as a Senator if he had just remained silent, but if he had been President and said that, he'd have been toast unless he came up with a good explanation for it and defended it convincingly. That's the analogy to Bush. Staying silent in the face of widespread criticism will not improve his public relations.

Nonetheless, he hasn't remained completely silent. I do applaud him for having acknowledged the problems, and saying that it's unacceptable. And the political problem isn't as severe as it seems. Democrats in Washington are acknowledging - albeit begrudgingly and obliquely - that everything wasn't exactly hunky-dory at the local level either. It's mostly just the radical moonbats that are jumping up and down yelling "Bush's fault! Bush's fault!"

If I were to advise the President to say anything further on the matter, it would just be to promise a full accounting after the crisis has passed, to reiterate that there were problems at the state and local level as well, and to appeal to the American people to shun vicious rhetoric until the facts come out.

That 8% of that 48% were persons of African persuasion suggests why hustlers like Jesse Jackson can still get a hearing. That another 1% consists of jornalists, professors and others of the chattering classes tells us why that hysteria is so widely broadcast.

under the insurrection act, president bush could have taken control of the disaster relief effort without governor blanco's agreeing to cede control.

I'm not familiar with the details of the Insurrection Act, but is it a safe bet to assume that an actual insurrection has to be occurring before it can be invoked? On top of which, Article IV.4 of the Constitution only authorizes the federal government to put down purely local insurrections when it gets the approval of state authorities.

You know what's sadder than that reporter saying that? It's that she never has to provide proof to back it up!!!

Exactly...she was on O'Reilly and at the end of the squabble he said something to her like "how can you prove that President Bush hates black people?" and her response was, "How can you prove he doesn't?" And that illogical conclusion is all the liberals need to attack and pillory a good man. They make me physically ill!

I thought I'd seen and heard all the hateful, spiteful and dishonest disinformation about the President that there was, but the awful and evil rhetoric the leftists have been spewing this last week has shocked and sickened me. I didn't think that Nancy Pelosi and Jesse Jackson would even go as low as they have. They're simply contemptible!

OMG.........Nancy Pelosi. She must be Hillary's twin! I can't stand listening to either of them. Some of the things that come out of their mouth. I hope it keeps them awake at night! (I'm sure it doesn't, but one can hope)

These people (liberals/Democrats) are ruining our election process! They are throwing so much mud and lies that pretty soon in the near future, people are going to say, "Why bother. I don't know who's lies to believe. How will I know if the person who got the most votes is really the person in office?" Etc.

Good post.

I'm really upset with the media keeping this constant drum beat of Bush bashing and the best government on the face of this earth.

It has become more a game of gotcha.

How sad.

Many do not know but in past disasters the media I have observed go out of their way to find the most unusual story denoting some small failure of the big bad government.

I see the same lousy thing happening here again.

I am sick of all the sobbing selfish Me-To reports.

The media seems to want be the story not report on the story.

Before all is said and done this will be the biggest give away scam in Americas history.

Ron Reagan on PMSNBC is bashing Mike Brown for not being experienced.

Ronnie baby is a known homosexual and his questions show just how much of an emotional sissy he really is.

I just sent the following Emile to the media and Fox more in particular.

Dear Fox and Other Bush Bashing Media

Your guest talking about the levee system in New Orleans seems to want to blame the White House for Katrina. I really resent Mike Tidwell and his accusations. He has done this on every cable station I have seen him on.

Dammit Media, the people of Louisiana had a responsibility for their own welfare. When in the hell are you Bush Bashers going to put the blame where it belongs.

I believe that Louisiana officials misappropriated 30 million American tax payers dollars from the last flood disaster.

Personally I am not going to give another dollar to any Katrina relief. Not another penny will be given until I find out that some federal entity will over see who, how and where this money will be spent.

I'm sick of the race barters and liberal namby pambys crying all over the networks about our big bad government.

Just completely fed up and sick of what your doing. I believe Kayne West got the message last night during his puke invoking performance of the NFL football game preshow. People who care about American can not stomach race batters like West, Jackson, Sharpton, NAACP, Congressional Black Congress and their white enablers in the Media.

Your splitting America along racial lines and I don't like it.

Hun,
Did you fall asleep in civics class?

There is a chain of command to be followed here...
First the City government, under the control of the mayor and his ilk....

And not starting the day of the flood, but YEARS in advance...like the town I live in that actually USED 100's of school buses, had contracts signed, workers on payroll etc in way in preparation of any disaster.....and then for a citywide evacuation (that I will never complain about again).

So, with the lions share of "nothing being planned, much less done" falling on the shoulders of the city fathers, or first link of the chain...

We move up to the governor...the SECOND link in the chain, who basically is beyond human redemption, IMHGLO. With that being said, she also balked, refused, balked, cried and in general held up efforts until there was a DISASTER where one wasn't before.

What enrages me is that at time when a state needed a strong leader, and in a world where 'women in politics' is viewed by some as a bad thing, she became the poster child for the ditzy female who can't handle pressure.

When the state needed Maggie Thatcher, instead they got Betty Boop.

What is worse, if the president HAD invoked the insurrection act too soon, you would have had a national outpouring of "Mean Ole Republican Male President Beating Up on Poor Lil' Ole Southern Belle Dem". Bush would have been vilified and that could have caused even greater gridlock.

Between Naggin and Blanco, what could have been a "gee, isn't it sad NOLA flooded, but at least they got most of the people out" we have what amounts to mass murder with blood on both their hands.

Sadly...the FEDs are the THIRD link in the chain, and they can only come in when one and two ask, or in this case, prove to be totally useless. But it has to happen first.

They are like the parent that has to stand back while a kid pretty much destroys their life before stepping in to intervene....too soon is interference with states rights....
That is what makes this place a 'republic'.
Yet, interference not soon enough (to some) means "You don't care!"
but hey, what do you expect from people who view the government as something that should meet all their needs?

Sorry about that .

When I run the spell checker and use the scroll on my mouse it changes all the words identified.

The word should have been baiter's, race baiter's.

Thanks for understanding.

I agree that it was a success. However, for the next disaster, the OLD MEDIA should not be allowed in.

Oprah and Dr. Phil? Geez!

The OLD MEDIA was totally disgusting. I watched a BBC mini-documentary about the disaster and I thought it was written and produced by Michael Moore-on.

It is obvious you see yourself as a learned expert and have jumped aboard the ship that FEMA and our terrible American government made lots of mistakes.

Can you give me specifics of what the mistakes the Federal government made?

Not those specifics from overly emotional news actors or one agenda bash America news channels.

Well, you know, those specifics naming names, dates, times and of course the failure.

Had these people evacuated as their local governments and president Bush begged repeatedly then we would not be having this blame game of bashing our government.

When did citizens give up their right to make responsible decisions.

Do we really need a Hillary type it takes a village for the , well, Village Idiot.

I did not see all this hand wringing when James Lee Witt and FEMA failed to respond in a timely manner to the flooding of hurricane Floyd in 1999.

I believe that Bill Clinton was the liberal president at the time.
