Red Cross: State rebuffed relief efforts Aid organization never got into New Orleans, officials say BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (CNN) -- Louisiana officials rebuffed American Red Cross requests to enter New Orleans with relief supplies last week because of concerns over logistical difficulties, Red Cross and state officials said Thursday. The Red Cross never launched its relief effort in the city. The national president of the American Red Cross, Marsha Evans, first made the request to undertake the operation during a visit to the state on September 1, three days after Hurricane Katrina struck, a local Red Cross chapter official said. p>

Hello all,
Here we have Major Garrett of Fox News breaking the story on how the Louisiana state government officials refused to allow the Red Cross and Salvation Army in to the SuperDome and convention center to provide relief to those who ended up suffering unnecessarily. What is our our local 'Fox News radio' station doing??? ... sitting on their hands instead of reporting the story and even having Major Garrett on for a short segment on Colorado Morning News for example.
It turns out that FEMA, the Red Cross, Salvation Army and others did their job. They had relief supplies pre-staged before the hurricane hit and had truck loads of supplies in the vicinity of the temporary shelters setup at the SuperDome and convention center, but the Lousiana state officials (and Governor Blanco) said no when they requested to deliver the supplies, multiple times!!!
I know that this story doesn't fit the script of the main stream liberal media's ongoing effort to destroy President Bush any way they can, but you have to report this! On Thursday morning you highlighted over and over all the comments from the folks crying racism in the treatment of the victims of this natural disaster. Now you have a significant part of the answer of why the folks at the SuperDome and convention center went without relief supplies. It wasn't racism! It was local and state government stupidity! (plus the mayor not using the local buses to evacuate people)
Report it and we'll decide. Don't cover-up the story because you think that you know what's best for us or a pre-disposed agenda of blaming / hating President Bush.

My update after learning of the CNN website posting:
ALERT - It's now okay for the KOA news dept. to report on this story because CNN finally did:
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/09/08/katrina.redcross/index.html
Beats me. I don't watch Nightline.
Isn't that pretty much the same excuse the Soviets used for their blockade of Berlin in 1948?
As Don Meredith used to sing, "Turn Out the Lights, the Party's Over."
Not to worry yourself, old news, CNN will now go back to covering up for the NO mayor and LA gov blank Blanco.
"I thought I saw and heard either Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton today state that Red Cross was told to back off by Homeland Security."
The Red Cross was stopped by Louisiana Homeland Security. I shall refrain from commenting about Jesse or Al.
"So when is Kanye West going to proclaim that "Governor Blanco does not care about black people."
Right after he cashes his check from Monday Night Football.
Bush diddled while Blacks died. Logistics stopped corrupt LA officials from saving poor African American lives. Gotcha MSM, makes real good sense to me. SARCASM at high alert level, maybe into overload capacity even.\
American MSM are the most corrupt SOB's in the world.
Somebody email this to the wench at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazoo.
It just doesn't get any better. Of course the Dims will backtrack/sidetrack and still spin it. Although.... CNN may have known this and just now published because they know the s*** will hit the fan over the "false" resume of Mike Brown.
Good idea. Unfortunately most of the people who would be eligable to sign are now scattered all over the country.
Check Seamole's pic of the impassable route to rescue claims.....good graphic that needs to be saved and shown to all in yer ping lists...

The MSM still have not came to grips with it is 2005, not 1975. The Internet has turned the world into a information transfer exchange system they cannot understand. And what they don't understand, they fear and hate, but they cannot defeat it.
That's for sure! Liberals = bastards.
A real problem, indeed
If I do not know the source I give the freeper who posted credit.....silly me....:o)
Thanks for posting it as it's a goodie to save !
Stay safe !
I noticed that also.
The CNN version of this story is partially wrong. Major Garrett interviewed Marsha Evans herself on camera. She said that the Red Cross was ready to go into the city "literally after the storm blew through." That would be Monday or Tuesday, as Garrett reported yesterday. But when she asked, she was refused permission. And now Garrett is reporting a similar story with the Salvation Army.
The video of this interview is still available at the Fox News website. I cannot even begin the imagine the media outcry had Blanco been a Republican.
