Red Cross: State rebuffed relief efforts Aid organization never got into New Orleans, officials say BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (CNN) -- Louisiana officials rebuffed American Red Cross requests to enter New Orleans with relief supplies last week because of concerns over logistical difficulties, Red Cross and state officials said Thursday. The Red Cross never launched its relief effort in the city. The national president of the American Red Cross, Marsha Evans, first made the request to undertake the operation during a visit to the state on September 1, three days after Hurricane Katrina struck, a local Red Cross chapter official said. p>

Jessie. Read post 10 what the slime is trying to pull
CNN realizes it has hit the fan, and must do their best spin to attempt to preserve the illusion that this is the fed's fault. It'll work for the dolts who watch nothing else, and do little to portray truth.
On the upside, the sleeping socialists have awakened. It's a good sign that this is brought to the front, even if they continue to distort to suit their anti-Bush agenda. There are truth seekers around, and the majority of Americans haven't lost their sense of smell.
Well, I hope Evans has the paper work, because they are reporting a request made Thursday, which is not what she said.
Mislead the people. Dems know that people confuse fed and state agencies. Louisiana has a FEMA type org separate from fed and with different responsibilities. Dems think everything is FEMA.
Fox News thrives on the news the other networks don't report.
The Director of the Louisianna DHS (guy at the center of this story) is supposed to be on Nightline tonight.
And how about THESE undeployed buses.....
Gov. Blankhead didn't get around to issuing this order until FIVE days after she should have been evacuating NOLA:
http://www.nationalreview.com/pdf/EmergencyEvacuationbyBuses.pdf
So far we've mainly talked about why Nagin didn't evacuate the city sooner.... but Gov. Blankhead had the emergency powers to order every bus in the state to evacuate NOLA residents without cars over the weekend before the storm, when it really would have made a difference....
This, being on CNN, will shake up the log jam in the MSM.
As I write this pigs are flying by the window (with night vision goggles)
The Red Cross was THERE...don't punish the Red Cross.
CNN found a local Red Cross "official" who is willing to fit their timeline, so they went with the story. They delay was in trying to find the right story line so that they could still pin a "slow response" on the President.
This is bullcrap, the red Cross had people in place on SUNDAY!!!!!! They were ready to go on Monday night.
The Red Cross WAS told not to come in by Homeland Security HOWEVER it was the STATE of LOUISIANA's HOMELAND SECURITY, NOT the Feds!!!!
Here we go.
This is a story with HUGE national implications, and because of the blogosphere the story is out there and can't be covered up and can't be ignored. Too many witnesses, too many people from all over the country are there in the relief effort and they will be carrying home the story. Either the media does something or they'll be filing bankruptcy......that is, if they survive the annual stockholders meetings.
Wonder if anybody told Jack Cafferty..??..!
Like Aruba.
I think it was a "major" double whammy for CNN.
First x-CNN guy Major Garrett recognizes a story that was first broke on CNN but CNN didn't/wouldn't recognize the value of the story. Red Cross lady first made allegations on CNN on Larry King Show Sept 2.
Second - Major Garrett makes a wonderful observation that he didn't need to do any hard investigative jurnalism, he just picked up a phone a called the Red Cross. He said it something CNN could have done too. They are being shamed into doing their jobs.
Obviously... a rhetorical question on your part!!!
