Al-Qaida's spectacular 'Ramadan Offensive'

WASHINGTON – Raising new concerns about the use of weapons of mass destruction by terrorists, al-Qaida is planning spectacular attacks next month against the U.S., Russia and Europe in what it is calling the "Great Ramadan Offensive."

The offensive, designed to overshadow the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and the Pentagon, was first referenced in a May 30 letter written by al-Qaida's Iraq commander Abu Musab Zarqawi to Osama bin Laden. It is the subject of a report written by terrorism expert Yossef Bodansky, the former director of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, to government officials.

Ramadan, the holiest period in the Muslim calendar, begins Oct. 4 this year and lasts a month.

Odd that the "center of the world" for the religion most after your destruction doesn't strike you as a target of opportunity. Seems to me that doing such a thing might convince the bastards blowing up buildings and groups of kids in the street that we're not f*@#ing around anymore.

Let me guess, your next response will be something along the lines of "that would simply strengthen their resolution", or maybe "well not ALL muslims want to kill us".

Not all alligators are hungry while you're standing on the bank fishing, either.

nope.

My thinking is this...

It will never come to pass, there is no reason to even think about this stupidity and genocidal garbage.

Next topic.

"Ramadan Offensive"? Who is this guy, Dan, and why is he allowing himself to be used in this way?

If Katrina has taught us anything, it's the importance of the Second Amendment.

The sales of guns has increased since the hurricane looting. Al-Qaida, and muslims in general, may be stirring a hornet's nest if it tries anything now.

America is in no mood to be messed with. (I know I'm not)

They tend to be right about a lot of things, (and wrong about lots of others).

In their beginning Stratfor was considered by the MI community as valuable open source reading material.

Our PC will kill a lot of americans even before they laucnht their Ramadan attack. But again, if that attack ever happens as a nuclear attack, probably some Islamic countries will become history.....as we will Booooooooooooooooom them.

If the Brits had nuked the Vatican it would have convinced the IRA they weren't screwing around anymore.

Although I have some issues with GWB, there is no doubt that the RATS are so far worse and so far gone as to shun them as lepers.

I think you're right. What's scary is the length of time between the first and second WTC attacks. They WERE willing to wait and plan that long and, for them, it paid off. That's what makes it a little scary; the more time that passes, the greater the potential to do something bigger.

no problem....

if they want to act like members of DU, maybe they should spread that garbage over there.

NUkes are NOT a military option unless WE have been nuked first. Plain and simple.

If AQ HAD nukes, you had better believe they would have used them by now in Iraq or Europe.

I wouldn't put any such restriction on Nuke use, but I don't advocate their use on unimportant targets like religious sites.
HV military such as massed enemy troops are worth Nuking if conventional means aren't adequate to save American lives.
That's not the case in the WOT, but will likely be required when we go to war with the PRC.
