This is real simple. You nominate a conservative. If he/she is not confirmed, you nominate a slightly more conservative. If he/she is not confirmed, you nominate a slightly more conservative. This will not go on for very long before one of your choices gets approved.
Bush should indicate this and that the first choice is the best they are gonna get and if they want to start rejecting everyone then they can pay the price.

They were already given input on O'Connor's replacement. What they should have screamed was that they want input on Rehnquist's replacement.</br>Just to p!ss them off, the president should appoint Chertoff.

Okay, earth to Democrats. Bush already knows who he will appoint. He can fake asking you for input, but it's already a done deal.
I'd give it an 80% chance of being Edith Jones or Janice Rodgers.
If he wants to have fun, it will Miguel Estrada.

"President Bush should consult with senators before making his choice to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Democratic leaders said Thursday."
So that they can plan their smear campaign. Bet Roberts drove them crazy because the couldn't dig up any dirt on him.

Yeah, GWB. Ask Zell Miller what he thinks. He's retired but he's a Democrat.

Thank you for sharing that, Harry.

I hope it's Janice. That lady is formidable.
I love Laura Bush, but in this instance her husband does not need this "I prefer a woman" crap. Would she be happy if he nominates another Ginsburg? It's the content of the character that counts.

The Dimms are so predictable---they're actually starting to bore me.

Democrats are the minority. They do not run things in Washington. They should be told to "shut their mouths and get out of the way." But the liberal media wants to keep them in the game.
