As it is she is permanently off my schedule.
!!!!!

She is undergoing daily radiation treatments and doing 5 hours of live radio, I think. I guess she has always been an 'overachiever" but how can she have any time for research.

I also turned her off about a minute into the interview with Kristol.

ABC radio news just announced that the Red Cross was turned back by STATE officials, "citing logistical problems."

1. The National Guard, because Blanco didn't initially mobilize enough of them.

2. The American Red Cross (turned back by Louisiana officials)

3. The Salvation Army (turned back by Louisiana officials)

4.Hundreds of private citizens with boats ready to get people out of their homes (turned back by Louisiana Fish and Wildllife officials)

5. Mobile hospitals and doctors from George (turned back by Louisiana officials)

6. Ham operators offering to help in communications (turned down by Louisiana officials)

Miss Marple, I had to copy that list because I'm also sending it to my e-mail. I had thought I'd stayed up on things, but obviously not.

I had not known about several of those items.

This is shocking. I'm sitting here thinking things no human should have to think. But what other explanation could there possibly be for this?

I would like to suggest that you and I and any other freepers who care to participate send this list to Rush, Tony Snow, Brit Hume, etc. and ask them to start asking questions of LA officials about these matters. I think we need to demand an explanation.

Also, we should send that list to our elected representatives and tell them that no investigation will be complete without getting answers to these questions.

The poll on Laura's website:

The Bush response to Hurricane Katrina--
1) should have happened earlier
2) was reasonable under the circumstances

!!!!!!

She should have had a third choice ---
Both

She is a perp of the same kind of false polling that we blame others for.

Of course it should have happened earlier, but clicking on that one will be recorded as a negative to President Bush.

"Under the circumstances" of a Governor acting as the chief obstruction.

"There is too much known in the way of timeline for the Dems to stonewall and pretend that it's Bush's fault.

W does the right thing and lets people see that it was the right thing as situations become clear."

It is dangerous to allow scurrilous lies to go on unchallenged at every turn, and the liars exposed.

Nazi Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels once said: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

That is the wish of the MSM and Jesse Jacksons and Ted Kennedys of the world, and guess what? Many who cannot discern very well DO believe the lies. Then they vote.

In 1998, New Orleans faced Hurricane George. People also went to the Superdome without adequate supplies, and they were prevented from leaving, according to those who were inside.

The Superdome, at that time, was described as being a place that would turn into a tomb surrounded by a moat.

What happened in 2005 is no surprise to anyone in that area.

My email to Laura:

The poll on your website is too vague:

The Bush response to Hurricane Katrina--
1) should have happened earlier
2) was reasonable under the circumstances

You need to define circumstances: "Under the circumstances" of a Governor acting as the chief obstruction to resources getting in.
Of course it should have happened earlier, but clicking on that one will be recorded as a negative to President Bush.

"I am CONVINCED this was a plan to make Bush look bad, NOT mere incompetence."

I agree. And if it is, I blame US Senator Mary Landrieu for doing her part in the Democrats' Get Bush program. I don't think that Governor Blacco has sense enough to act on her own.

I think MAJOR Garret deserves a PROMOTION IN RANK!

I wonder why they never publish the name of the person in the government office who denies permission to bring in the Red Cross or Salvation Army.

Miss Marple, your list is terrific! I added a couple of items, and will send this to all on my address book. Thanks, and keep those useful ideas coming.

"Democrats and members of the media are circulating a lie that President Bush did not respond adequately to the Katrina hurricane crisis.

THE TRUTH:

1. President Bush offered help to Governor Blanco on August 27, 2005, BEFORE THE HURRICANE HIT, and she declined. Federal law requires that the governor of a state ask for assistance before the Feds will step in. Even though his offer for evacuation help was rejected, Bush directed Homeland Security to prepare for disaster relief. The FEDS WERE READY, Blanco was not.

2. The National Guard was not mobilized immediately by Governor Blanco, saying she had to have 24 hours to make the decision for evacuation.

3. Mayor Nagin had 550 municipal buses and hundreds of additional school buses to evacuate New Orlean citizens, and he refused to do so, allowing the buses to become flooded and useless.

4. The American Red Cross was turned back by Louisiana officials.

5. The Salvation Army was turned back by Louisiana officials.

6. Hundreds of private citizens with boats ready to rescue people were turned back by Louisiana Fish and Wildllife officials.

7. Mobile hospitals and doctors from North Carolina were turned back by Louisiana officials.

8. Ham operators offering to help with communications were turned down by Louisiana officials."

Hopefully this data plus the Red Cross data and the data below will get to some mean Trial Lawyers. Those who suffered thanks to the Gov and Da Mayor or had relatives who were killed by their miss deeds should have big lawsuits.

Then maybe the mediots and rats in Congress will be drawn in as abettors in these crimes.

Minutes From June 5 Meeting Of Orleans Parish School Board:

Using School Buses In Evacs

Meeting Minutes June 9, 2005

• Hurricane Preparedness Ms. Bartholomew: President Sanders indicated that he wanted this on the agenda because of the Hurricane season. Last year when schools needed to be closed, department heads were unclear because a lot of our school records are still in paper format and not in electronic format. So they didn’t know the proper procedure to follow with maintaining records.

In addition, President Sanders also indicated that the City would like us to work with them. If a hurricane should come to the City in order to save the school buses, those assets, the City had asked if we would loan the school buses to be utilized for those persons in New Orleans.

A lot of the citizens of New Orleans do not have transportation and have no way of evacuating from the City if a hurricane should come this way. He had been talking with Dr. Kevin Stephens from the Health Department because the Red Cross said that they would not commit to opening any shelters in the City of New Orleans if a hurricane comes this way. It would be all for naught.

They wanted to utilize school buses in order to transport those persons out of the City. I believe that the City had agreed to indemnify and hold harmless the School Board if any of those persons got hurt on the buses because that was one of my concerns. But after speaking with Ms. Bowers, who had spoken with certain persons at the City as well, they indicated they would release us of any liability.

He wanted the Board to be aware of what the City is doing with hurricane preparedness and I guess initiate the proceeding for the Administration to start taking steps now before we get on the door steps of a hurricane.

How are we going to preserve students records? If you cannot come back to the City, the children will need those records to go into new schools in other States
or other Parishes. She is here now; he can speak to it. Mr. Sanders: I first noticed that this current policy, 3651R, a 16 page policy, looks like it was drafted in July 1989. I don’t know if it has been reviewed since 1989 but it probably could withstand review on that sake along. It has a lot of titles in here Committee of the Whole Meeting Minutes June 9, 2005 12 in terms of people in positions and I wonder if those same titles and positions are still operable. The larger issue is not with the records and that is a major issue.

The children are even more important in terms of making sure they are safe. We know many of our children and families don’t have transportation and even though it is a City responsibility to plan for emergencies and hurricane preparedness, we need to look at working even more cooperatively or seeking a more cooperative relationship with the City on behalf of the students that we serve.

I did talk with Dr. Kevin Stephens in the Health Department of the City. It is our interest to get buses and other vehicles that we may own out of the City in the event it is being evacuated. So those buses should not be empty.

It was also his suggestion and call that they should be filled with families and children that may need a ride out of City and may perhaps designate certain high schools in different neighborhoods as staging grounds for families to go to should the need arise for an evacuation. The City is working on arrangements with different Civic Centers in Houma and depending on where the hurricane is coming from, where we need to go. They are making arrangements with institutions in those areas such as Baton Rouge, Mississippi, or Hammond to wait out the hurricane. I just wanted to bring that to your attention.

In the last two years we had evacuations and with
this season it is predicted to be another big one. With last year’s storm, Mr. Jerome Smith over in the Treme’ area said there were a lot kids who were just stuck there.

They were going to break into or were willing to get in one of our schools in order to be safe. We completely understand. I informed him that a school would not have been a good place to be if a hurricane did come. Only about four or five of our schools would really withstand a category three or higher hurricane. Using our schools as shelters is really not an option. Getting out of the City is the best option.

We need to find ways to facilitate that for the kids we serve. Even though it is not our primary responsibility, as such, we need to facilitate those relationships. Mrs. Landrieu: I just wanted to remind you that if we are going to include buses, which are not part of this plan, then we need to include the personnel and communication with personnel. Ms. Bowers: We have been meeting with City entities about the hurricane preparedness and we have talked to them about our buses. We still have not defined how many they
want. They have agreed to indemnify the School Board for using the buses. They said if our bus drivers volunteer then they will make arrangements to take the families of the bus drivers and offer them secure places. They are talking about having City Officers on buses also. There is a good bit of planning that is underway.

Benita Cochran and the head of transportation and the head of Security have been participating in these meetings, too. We are trying to stay on top it. This does need review. Ms. Cochran is reviewing the Facilities plan.

I don't know how Blanko and Noggin thought they could get away with this with Smith and Rivera going crazy worldwide every day saying either get these people water or get them out. I know people bashed them for grandstanding, but this explains why the cops would drive up and down the bridge but would never give the people so much as a drop of water. And there was a checkpoint at the entrance to Jefferson Parish -- they couldn't get out even if they tried to walk.

If Fox went with a primetime broadcast evening news to compete with ABCCBSSNBC it would put them out of business. They've all lost their anchors and much of their audiences. They're drifting, and good old Brit Hume, comfortable and reassuring as an old pair of slippers, could become the next Walter Concrete. I don't understand why they don't do it. They've always been willing to stick it to the networks in the past.

What I'm wondering now is, who else is involved?

I don't think Kathleen Blanko is bright enough to have come up with the idea of screwing the po folk as a trap for the President. Somebody told her to do it. One of the Landrieu Gang? Maybe James Carville? He's from around there. He's been strangely quiet, haven't heard him say a word in this mess.
