I think you are correct, and it is best to pick up the phone and call him. Let me know when you do it. And I don't think this is a stupid thread.

"It gets so tiring to hear Sean brag about news that only he has, when that news is old news on Free Republ"

Dave's mom here again. Yes, I'm real.

This must be what happened. But, then everything we or other posters can conclude is merely speculation. But since Dave did NOT use profanity, nor is he guilty of other accusations (e.g. switching topics) listed here, it must be that Hannity didn't want to be shown up on a news item. Perhaps he hadn't had time to check FR and didn't want to get deal with something with which he was not familiar. Maybe he was just having a bad day. Perhaps he truly misheard what Dave said. I don't think Mr. Hannity hates FR. But, then I don't tune in often to Mr. Hannity.

This is NO effort to bash Mr. Hannity. On the contrary, I said in my original post that both SH and Rush had been part of our homeschool curriculum. That's high praise from a homeschooler!

I don't hate Mr. Hannity. Far from it! He is on OUR side and has risen to a point of power and influence. Thankfully! Talk radio is a powerful tool. I do not begrudge him financial success. This is America. But, I do hope he can make an effort to be more polite to callers--precisely because he may make an error (as can anybody) and he doesn't know the history of the caller. Just as posters here who use profanity, name-calling and the like harm the conservative cause, (by looking like jerks) so could the inappropriate behavior of a talk-show host. For example, Rush is a wonderful example of intelligent conservativism. He engages in CIVIL debate on ideas and refrains from the name-calling, etc. I'm convinced that this type of approach wins over more people (eventually!) than those with a rabid approach. And, no I don't consider SH's approach rabid, but there are some out there that are.

Yes, everybody knows about the delay as does Dave. He has been hanging out at the local conservative talk radio station, just to learn the ropes. That (his passion for talk radio) may explain his over-the-top efforts to get through to the Hannity show, which I truthfully don't understand myself.

But for those who are convinced this is some sort of DU effort. You have a point. The internet is a very "blind" place. I could be a crazy old man for all you know. But then, you could be a DU plant too, right? aha! I agree though--a little paranoia is a healthy thing on the internet. If you think I'm whiney, long apron strings, etc., that's your right. This is America. For those who can't refrain from your use of profanity, you reveal your true character. It is to your shame, that I had to ask my son what some nasty comments mean.

But for those who have taken an interest in this topic and grappled with this small issue trying to figure it out, thank you. Thank you to those who have helped clarify and who had kind words to say. Thank you for the respect shown to me. It does balance out the cranks!:-)

Here's my credentials, which I'm sure some will think I'm making up. But, you're not getting my social security number! :-) We have six kids, oldest is working as a journalist, Dave is next, followed by four more, 15 to 5. See why I don't catch talk radio that much? I was a RN before kids. Now, I homeschool. (BJU, Videotext, A/O, Apologia are our homeschool curriculums)

Now, I've really got to paint the porch!

Watch him read this thread and bring up the topic of the busdrivers being evacuated on today's show.

I suspect we will hear something about this today.

"Perhaps they have the same agent and/or mgmt and/or PR company."

That's my whole point -- a sacrifice of personal principles (I'm still willing to believe) in favor of some PR move. Sure, this happens all the time in companies, media, politics, agencies, anywhere, but that doesn't mean I/we should not call it as it is.

DLR and Allen h,

TB attached some good info. Here is one part of it that is pretty informative:

Trixie -- Nickname of Lucianne Goldberg, once a frequent and well-liked contributor to FreeRepublic. Goldberg came to Conservative fame due to her association and involvement with Linda Tripp.

(Time Magazine's early take on Goldberg's rise to conservative prominence.)

At some point there were those who thought FR should be only and exclusively Republican.

There were also those (including Jim Robinson himself) who thought the forum should stand for and work toward a return to true Constitutional standards of government no matter which party or candidate.

A heated philosophical struggle began, resulting in The Great Lucianne Exodus and the establishment of Lucianne.com. Jim Robinson wished them all good luck in their endeavors and to this day still posts banner links to what is variously referred to as L.com. Lucianne.com and I Love Lucy. Trixie, incidentally, is credited with coining the term "FReeper".

I know that SH has defended Lucianne a few times on his show.

I listen to Sean on my ride home each day. I heard you get dumped after mentioning Free Republic. I wondered why.

I know Sean doesn't like to have people constantly plugging their web sites without him approving it. Did he know you were a freeper and wanted to give us a shout out.

There is a 7 second delay built in to the show, what was it you said right after plugging FR?

They are on seven second delay, so we may never know what was said that caused them to "dump" that audio.

"I hate it when people get their little kids to call into a show. I'll bump that sentiment!!"

"I can understand it a little…like getting your kid photographed with a celebrity. However, I am neither “little” (Mom chose to reveal my height…I did not, but it’s true) nor a child."

For clarification, "little kids" was NOT a reference to you. It was a tangential thought.

Excellent reply. I wanted to ping as many people as I could to see your mom's response. There were some comments made that I hoped would be cleared up by your mom's post. Your post in itself clears up a lot for me. Thanks.

Dave, please read my reply again....
>>If he pushed the dump button too soon, we would not have heard the words "Free Republic".

Try to say Free Republic. It is much less than 7 seconds. The caller said something afterward that caused the dump. Everyone is jumping on the Hate Hannity bandwagon.

I would like to know what the caller said in the next 7 seconds.
Back in the days when I was young and without kids I listened to Howard Stern (i know, I was a dork) but did you ever hear where someone would call in to a show and start talking then get in a plug for Stern? It used to happen a lot then the hosts got clued in.
If Hannity was truly blowing out FReepers, we would have never heard the words. What did Dave say?

Why would Hannity have Trueblackman or MHKing on if he hated FReepers so much?

This was either a mistake or Dave said something that was not allowed. Even a non-hostile caller can drop the F-bomb if is he is excited enough to make it on the air.<<

We would have never heard the words "Free Republic" if that had been the cue.
You, your mom or anyone else can come on here defending you. I think it's great that your mom loves you, I love my kids too but a seven second delay is just that. I'm not accusing you of lying. I have no reason to. But I think that you are reading more into this than is warranted. The idea that you would take the time to come a week later and right up this huge explaination, to me, means that it is highly emotional for you.
My FRiend, please understand that perspective is perspective. Logic is logic. Sometimes the two don't meet.

As I stated, say the words "Free Republic" it takes significantly less time than 7 seconds to say. I'm sure you see this as a personal afront to the FReepers, but I think that there are two sides to a story. There are many of us here that honestly don't give a crap whether Hannity likes us or not.

But there are many DUers that troll here and are loving this.

Dave old boy, haven't you heard the funny commercial they play every year around tax time of the guy calling the IRS to ask them to get moving with his refund?

The humour hinges on the kid not knowing the IRS really doesn't care how much he wants or needs his refund.

Similarly, they have another one where he gets his mom to call the IRS to tell them what a good boy he is, and how he *really* needs that refund. If I'm not mistaken...she calls herself "Dave's Mom."

You need to lighten up FRiend.

And you know, if your mom wants to defend you...there's no reason she has to let everyone know she's your mom.
