Mostly, they say, the demand is being fueled by "good people" wanting to protect their families and property. "good people" Too funny!

When the US was first founded, the Congress passed "The Militia Act of 1792." All male citizens were required to purchase/own a military grade rifle suitable for Militia service (right caliber, etc.). This should be the case again today as in Switzerland.

Mostly Volvo-driving Handgun Control types who let their ideology get in the way of thinking "what if...", I'm willing to bet.
And it's really hard to do a proper gun rack installation on a Volvo...

I did go buy some more ammo yesterday. My .45 ACP supply had dipped to 900 rounds so I bought 2 boxes of 50 230 grain FMJ. Have 1100 9mm, 300 3 inch 12 gauge 00 buck, 150 270 Winchester, 400 38 spec/357 mag, and several thousand 22 LR.

How is this a crisis?
Since when was a case of people exercising their constitutional rights a crisis? Sheesh.

LOL. This story is clearly made up in Chicago.
I've lived in the South all my life, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Southerner who doesn't already own a gun.
Maybe they're just talking about gun sales in Atlanta and other such yankee bastions in the South.

Not this article. Got to it free and clear, without having to resort to
BugMeNot.
In fact, there's a Firefox extension that lets you right-click on the username dialog box if the site requires registration, and it automatically hits BugMeNot and fills in the fields if they have a known username/pass combo for that site.
Not the neatest thing since sliced bread, but close.

Every tragedy has a silver lining: this is going to set the gun grabbers back about 60 years.

Heck, I already have mine. So, I am armed, loaded at all times, finger on safety and ready. Bring em on. We can begin to cull the herds of thugs.

I told my wife yesterday that I needed to buy a gun because of all this mess. She asked me how many I already own. I'm going to have to count them tonight before I can get back to her on that.

Good for them.
May the purchase and use of guns for protection be a lesson to us all.

This is hilarious. The crime rate in storm-ravaged Mississippi might actually rise to what passes for normal in Chicago.

I am eagerly awaiting the newest addition to my armory, a CMP ordered M1 Garand which will arrive tomorrow! Now I need to covert my 72 hour emergency kit into a 240 hour kit.

These yankees are so off base on this. Us Southerners love our guns and hunting. This time of year we always buy new guns, after all dove season just started and deer season is right around the corner plus the Fall ploughing is coming up and ya gots to be ready for all them snakes and other vermin.

What irony. Folks buying guns, that the left hates, to protect themselves from the very people the left maintain from cradle to grave (regardless of actual need).

After staying up protecting their neighborhood from looters, Algier's Point resident Gareth Stubbs gets some sleep next to an arsenal of guns. The men slept outdoors on a balcony and heard gunfire on their streets every night following the storm.
