Mostly, they say, the demand is being fueled by "good people" wanting to protect their families and property.

"good people" Too funny!

Yeah, love the scare quotes, no bias at the Tribune eh?

In my mind's eye I see the sneering reporter making little quote marks in the air with his fingers as he fills in his editor on the story.

They could have said law-abiding citizens and left off the quotation marks, but that is probably too much to expect from the effete urban liberals.

I own one 9MM pistol. I am not a hunter, but many of my friends are and I have no problem with it. I had never felt a need to own anything bigger than the 9mm - until Katrina.

I will be going this weekend to look at options - AR-15 perhaps. Flooding would not be an issue where I am located, but there are other possibilities and I intend to defend myself and those around me.

Any recommendaqtions on what to purchase? Someting easy to use and maintain, with good "stopping power".

PS - unlike the geniuses in NO, I plan to obtain both the weapon AND the ammo!

Good eye. Yep, normally it's all we "bad people" who want guns so that we can protect ourselves. Suddenly even a few "good people" seem to want the evil little contraptions.
