These Dim Bulbs are going to seriously regret their attempt to turn a national tragedy into a political gain.

I think you may be right. When even the Washington POST doesn't try to cover for them it's really bad because you know there is a lot more they aren't telling us. We know the state has a history of corruption and failed political leaders.
JMHO, I think all the carping from Hillary and Pelosi is more a function of trying to draw attention from the back story.
Susan Estrich made what may be the most outrageous statement today: Called this Bush's Monicagate.

Any one from Louisiana can tell you that a seat on the levee board was a cherished position given out as a premium political favor. The board had the say so for destination of quite a load of cash.

Wow, coming from the Wash. Post of all places.
It's a great time for reactionary politics, amid all the crap being hurled around by Democrats without an ounce of character.

They will not. The only thing dimmer than these rats are those who elect them. Rats turn everything into political gain or it is dropped like a hot stone by the MSM and therefor never was, as far as their constituents limited intellect is concerned.
No matter what comes out of this those who do the right thing and save the rats and their supporters from their own devices will be held responsible.
Half the rats that allowed this situation to manifest will catch a hundred K payoff investigating their past actions next year. Katrina is a gravy train for this crowd, a scratcher worth millions in outright cash, and a free public forum to pi$$ for months onto those who must make the payout. We once had to fight ignorance and the MSM, now we must fight nature itself.

Louisiana is hardly unique in this respect. Let's not forget Alaska's quarter-billion dollar Bridge to Nowhere in the current transportation bill. That would build a lot of levees.

Levee board under federal investigation before Katrina hit
By David Hawkins & Judi McLeod
Tuesday, September 6, 2005
Rampant public corruption was doing big business in New Orleans long before Hurricane Katrina ever hit. What then Congressman, now Senator David Vitter calls "corrupt, good old boy" practices were apparent in the New Orleans Levee Board just one year before the collapse of regional levees, emergency communications and government services brought the Big Easy to the brink of anarchy. In fact, Senator David Vitter requested a federal investigation into improper practices of a number of public utilities, including the New Orleans Levee Board, and a new Task Force was to have been initiated in the Baton Rouge office, beginning in July 2004.
