Dems blast Bush over hurricane response (AP writers are high on something)

WASHINGTON - Democrats, divided over President Bush's handling of Iraq, are coming down hard on his administration's response to Hurricane Katrina.

Some of the harshest words are coming from 2008 presidential hopefuls. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York ridiculed relief coordinator Michael Brown's suggestions. Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards said the hurricane's aftermath underscores the "two Americas" theme of his presidential campaign last year.

"It's piling on time," said Rutgers University political scientist Ross Baker.

Democrats, ready with talking points and working closely, went into full battle mode Wednesday.

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada pressed for a broad investigation that would explore questions such as "How much time did the president spend dealing with this emerging crisis while he was on vacation?"

His House counterpart, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., renewed her call for Brown's dismissal. "There were two disasters last week: first, the natural disaster, and second, the man-made disaster, the disaster made by mistakes made by FEMA," she said.

She told reporters she had urged Bush in person at the White House on Tuesday to fire Brown.

"Why would I do that?" Pelosi quoted the president as saying.

"It is different when you face a foreign enemy on the one hand versus a domestic failure on the other," Democratic consultant Mark Mellman said.

"Democrats see a real problem with the way this administration has handled Katrina, and see real needs that have to be addressed. Everybody is trying to do the best they can to help these victims," Mellman said.

When it comes to Bush's handling of the hurricane, the public is largely divided along political lines.

AP writers have been snorting again.

"Democrats, divided over President Bush's handling of Iraq, are coming down hard on his administration's response to Hurricane Katrina.

Democrats also were reluctant to criticize the president as the nation rallied behind him after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

"It is different when you face a foreign enemy on the one hand versus a domestic failure on the other," Democratic consultant Mark Mellman said."

I have news for these dems...

It is the people in the RED states that elect presidents, and the people in the RED states are so busy right now, helping with the evacuees, and raising $$$, and getting food together...

That they don't have time to listen to you guys whine and cry....

So, I have a feeling, by the time the next elections roll around, the RED states will be voting for who they KNOW were part of the solution, instead of whining about a bogus cause.

it's not just the AP writers, sorry to say. These buttheads are making political hay on a disaster. Let them dig their own political graves and have their political hay rot. Bring it on 'rats. 13% blame Bush. I wonder what percentage of that 13% are living breathing voters. If these folks are acting on 13%, they must think they can turn the political tide by slander like they did in the '60's and '70. Problem is they dont own the message anymore. The bigger deal they make of this, the bigger the blowback come election time. They are loons if they think sane folks will follow this line of reasoning.

Naturally, with the democrats, it's blame first and ask questions later.

And, accuse of failures first and find the facts later.

And, once the facts are known, don't let them get in the way of the democratss' agenda.

And, the democrats' agenda is that everything is Bush's fault.

"divided over President Bush's handling of Iraq"

Um, in what alternate universe?

Name one person critical of the president on the hurricane, who supports him on the war.

13% of the public blames Bush for the hurricane stuff. Half the country has qualms about the war.

The commie press is delusional as ever...

You have to give the DemocRATS credit.

There is nothing that will stand in their way as to letting the MAJORITY of this country KNOW that their HATRED for LIBERTY AND JUSTICE is their primary motivation for living.

Keep up the "good work" you Anti-American scheissenkopfs.

You are succeeding in a magnificent manner. All that you need for evidence of this FACT is the results of the 2000, 2002 and 2004 elections.

Continue Mission, Knobs. :-)

All the Democrat Mayor had to do was drive down I-10 in a fancy suit, and bull-horn in hand. Then rally the police who were blocking I-10, and "stopping" looters, and put each PIG in the driver's seat of each of the 100 buses that weren't ruined, then use bull-horn to calm down Thunderdome, tell them to fill buses, drive down I-10, and return for more. WOW!

These Dem fools are trying to mobilize the 14 people in the country who still listen to them. It's like watching an old-time salesman give his pitch to someone who's far more sophisticated than he is. Of course, Dems have always marketed their silly demagoguery to the stupid.

I am pretty sure, that during the first part of the week, during the worst of the storm....Hitlery was with her weenie husband and daughter in HAWAII...getting massages, and sitting in spas...

Harry Reid today says he wants an investigation into whether Bush's VACATION was part of the reason that Hurricane Kartrina was so catastrophic...even though, Bush went back to Wash. on Wed late or Thurs...

And REID and his congresscritters didn't get back to town until YESTERDAY!!!!

AP Washington Bureau = New York Times = Washington Post = CNN

Call your local paper, ask if they have a "wire editor", if not, ask who selects wire service copy and ask to speak to them. Complain. If they agree, ask them to complain to AP.

No they don't.....they vote predominantly Democrat (blue).....they have a Dem mayor, Dem governor, Dem Senator, and I think Dem Rep. AND, those Dems can sure get their voters to the polls to vote, but they can't get 'em on a bus out of harms way!

You have to give the DemocRATS credit.

In a way,. you really have to give them credit. For, it is the best known democrat leaders who are leading the charge, and they are getting a lot of press.

Now, how many of the best known republican leaders are standing up for the administration and combatting the spin and lies from the left? In some cases, some of our leaders are joining the democrats and helping to attack the president and his administration. And to top it off, some of the republicans in the media are joining in the attacks, such as Joe Scarborough. I think Scarborough should be excommunicated (I know that's not the word for it, so don't bother to correct me) from the GOP.
