Governor Blanco just said on Fox News Channel that Mayor Nagin does not have the authority to order evacuation of New Orleans, that the authority rests with her....and she doesn't have evidence that it is unsafe!

I'm starting to think that either this woman is the stupidest person to ever walk the earth, or that some of her antics have been done purposely so the blame can be put on President Bush by the media and the dems. My thoughts exactly, I think she screwed up and saw that all the blame is going to the President, so now she is doing it on purpose because she is like Teflon and knows he will get the criticism.

they can't keep the media from showing the world how inept the gov is...she has done that already by herself and I'll be damned if I would let hillereee tell me what to do.

Is there NO law for removing a crazy person from office? Here's a little Louisiana history. In 1960, the head of the state mental hospitals declared Governor Earl K. Long mentally incompetent, insane, or whatever. Governor Long just fired the doctor and continued making a fool of himself, especially with stripper Blaze Starr.

Is she trying to run up the detah toll to create a greater dusaster that would then be blamed on Bush, or is she simply incompetent, or "criminally negligent."

Ill timed, ill thought through. No it is the smartest thing I have seen any republican do in years.

Governor Blanco just said on Fox News Channel that Mayor Nagin does not have the authority to order evacuation of New Orleans, that the authority rests with her....and she doesn't have evidence that it is unsafe! So Nagin didn't even have the authority to evacuate New Orleans before the hurricane hit?
Un believeable.
Nagin would rather leave people to die than risk acting without the governor's permission, and Blanco would let people die before giving it.

Seems to me that in the Second War of Independence a half-million men died in an attempt to prevent the Federal Government from doing just that.Understand Abe's decision and the reprocussions. However, this is not it.
I will answer your point re: fed intervention by stating that if the state gov't don't want any fed funds, they should be able to tell the feds to stay away. Point is, they (LA) want to use ONLY fed funds while showing no aptitude for solving the problems said funds would be used for.

Hopefully she's messed herself up this time. Hopefully everyone will realize now that she was the one responsible for NOT evacuating the city before the storm and causing people to die.

I think the person got it who said that it is all about images of soldiers, some of them white, shooting looters or forcibly evicting black people.
They would rather have their citizens who voted for them die than be remembered in the light of Bull Connor. They want to force George Bush to give the orders.

I think Blanco is beginning to look a lot more inept than Nagin...and that's saying something!
Obviously she is just now realizing what the total depopulation of New Orleans means to her state budget. She can kiss the revenues Good Bye. And for good.
And so, with it, her political career.

Major Garrett of Fox just reported FEMA and Red Cross had supplies of food, water, toiletries to bring to Superdome and Convention Center last week BUT WERE ORDERED NOT TO by the LA Homeland Security Dept. They did not want to draw more people to these areas. This is Hugh! Oooh, did they say when they were denied access?

He'll be thrown overboard? He'll be left to sink or swim? He'll be up the creek without a paddle? He'll take a long walk off a short pier? He'll walk the plank? Really, these are endless and SO appropriate!

When my husband joined ( the mother tent...and no that isn't anything like the mother ship. LOL), women weren't allowed to join, go to the meetings, nut we were allowed to sit in the "green room" and then join the men to watch that night's movie. So no, I'm not a member, but women are now allowed to join; but we live too far away from any "tent" ( each club is called a "tent" and named after one of "the boys" films) now,so we don't go to meetings.
