Today, a different kind of line was crossed. The Times has messed with Texas. You dont tug on Supermans cape, you dont spit in the wind, and most of all you dont mess with Texas if you have even a shred of common sense.
KTRK-TV, the ABC affiliate in Houston has caught (hat tip: Austin Bay) the New York Times Company slurring Houstons rescue efforts in a sneaky yet stupid maneuver. How do like this for the first sentence in a story about Houstons sheltering efforts on behalf of the evacuees, by Houston-based NYT reporter Simon Romero?:
No one would accuse this city of being timid in the scramble to profit from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina."
Excuse me? The City of Houston has thrown open its heart, pocketbook, homes, churches, schools, and all public facilities to its neighbors in need. The Astrodome was prudently stocked with disaster supplies because nearby Galveston might need them in the event of a big hurricane. Without a thought, Houston stepped up and became evacuation central. It will cost Houston taxpayers a lot of money, but nobody is giving a thought.
And you paint this city as a crass profiteer on its neighbors misery. That is beyond despicable. It is crazy.

Anyone catch the today show's Couric this morning asking two pastors if the survivors living in the Astrodome have forgive the Bush administration for its' extrememly slow response to their cries for help.
these snobby LIBERALS pass judgement from afar, in their ivory towers in Manhattan. They've crossed the line so much in their Lefty zeal to bash Bush, degrade Christians and patriotic Americans ,it is AMAZING they're still open for business. WHO READS THEIR TRASH ANYWAY?
Where is the talk in the NYT about the NYT profiteering?
Does anyone know of any contributions by the New York Times?
"No one would accuse this city of being timid in the scramble to profit from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina", said Hillary Clinton in an interview today.
has the Times said anything about the incompetence of La. liberals in all this??
Have they admitted yet another mistake insinuating last Aprilt money spent on the levee's was a waste??
Have they talked about the fraud cases, posted here last night, in which La. officials were stealing/embezzling money from the Army Corps of engineers??
Houston BUMP
First and foremost, they want to pin the fiasco solely on Bush. But to do that, they have to downplay Blanco's role and also downplay how effective Texas has been in an effort to deceive that there is little difference in state-level preparedness.
So Bush is slammed, Blanco is ignored and Texas has their motives questioned. A liberal propaganda trifecta.
Blaming YOU, blaming ME... Endless assigning of responsibility...
Feeds my illusions - Gives sense of control At least now I know why my life's in a hole! And negative feelings have somewhere to go... Expressions of rage about life's bitter blow.
Feelings with targets can flow with such ease What matter if reason is brought to its knees? Nothing can happen without someone at fault Giving me permission to give them a "jolt".
Oh how I love my blaming game! Take on my judgement! - Hang head in shame! I rise superior - Moral high ground is mine! Others feel terrible - but I feel quite fine
Probably a book you do not see on the New York Times book list!
See my post #29...
One of Oprah's first efforts on the boob tube was in Los Angeles, years ago.
She anchored a Jerry Springer-type show and one of her "themes" was "Mother of serial killers". Harhar, was it ever gaedawful. My girlfriends and I still chuckle over her sludge origins and her now-holier-than-thou attitude.
She came from the mud, slime and ooze that is Sleazywood. She's not changed one iota, but for her snazzy wardrobe and 'do.
Their efforts are wasted in helping one Katrina Refugee...THEY ONLY PUFF THEMSELVES UP!
The time will come when NYC has to be evacuated, it will come.
I'm tired of the NYT's...They aren't even American over there.
The NYTimes has reason to suspect the motives of the mayor. He IS a Democrat who served in the Clinton Administration.
