Military says "No." to Nagin (Won't take part in Mayor's debacle)
CNN | 9/7/05 | CNN Headline News

Posted on 09/07/2005 5:41:44 AM PDT by RGSpincich

CNN Headline news reporter just stated that the military will not force folks from their homes. "Refusing to force Americans from their homes", said the noticeably British reporter. Further, they will not let residents deteriorate in their own homes. The military will continue to get water and food to those remaining in New Orleans, effectively undermining Nagin's mandatory evacuation order.

I bet you that developers are starting to circle. Nagin's got visions of emminent domain dancing in his head. And if there's nobody to protest their homes and neighborhoods being bulldozed for commercial development, so much the better.

Yes, and deals are floating everywhere for the "officials" - probably.

Those people refusing to leave probably know exactly what would happen to their homes and property, and that is why they are staying.

Does Nagin ever bother to read the laws as they are written? Since when can a mayor order the military? Besides, the people who are wanting to stay in their homes have already survived Katrina. Tell the people exactly what the latest dangers are, what they can expect if they stay and let them make up their own minds. Make them sign a waiver if need be.

The vast majority of homes that were submerged will never completely dry out and will eventually develop mold within the walls.
If unchecked, this will cause health problems for the occupants that could eventually dwarf the current health problems of NO.
I believe that evacuations are needed. I have to believe that most homes will have to be torn down and rebuilt. This will be impossible as long as there are people living in these homes.

I was referring to the 40% of homes that were unaffected by the floods and have power and running water.

It seems Gov Blanco already rescinded Mayor Nagin's order ...

I just had a conversation with someone evacuated from New Orleans. She said the police make 18,000 a year which is less than the refuse haulers make. Is this correct? BTW, she's pretty liberal. She also said that from seeing the pics, the levee broke right next to where they had just upgraded it.

oh, but remember, Nagin is a democrat, and a black man, and if he says so, the MSM will go along with it, or they will say that Bush did it, or that he ordered Nagin to order the military to do it.

I'm also sure they can return fire if fired upon.

I believe Governor Blanco would not allow the regular military under President Bush to bring weapons into Louisiana.

Only the National Guard under her control have weapons.

Someone will have to do more than find an article that states otherwise as there is a lot of misinformation going around.

It'll have to be an authoritative article from a trusted source that talks to this point before I'll believe otherwise.

But what if local police try to stop the military? Oh, I forgot, the local police is in Vegas.

And their cars have mysteriously appeared in Houston.

The military should air drop the following items to the liberals who refuse to evacuate:

1. Body bag

2. Magic marker

3. Toe tag

Heard a story from someone who lived in a hurricane zone:

When it came time for a mandatory evacuation in one of the Carolinas the authorities handed those who refused to evacuate permanent markers & told them to write their social security numbers somewhere on their bodies so they could identify their bodies after the disaster passed. Worked every time. LOL

How about rats that spread disease, mosquitoes that spread disease, flies that feed on the bodies and spread disease, don't forget airborne diseases.

The water is still not safe to drink and how long will the sewer/sanitation systems hold out?

Why would any in their right minds want to stay there and how many other people are risking their health and well being just to make sure those remaining are ok? I for one would not want to know that someone else got sick and died because I refused to leave.
