Rap mogul Jay-Z is standing behind Def Jam colleague Kanye West in the wake of the latter's comments during Friday's telethon to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. As previously reported, West declared that "George Bush doesn't care about black people" and that America is set up "to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible."
"I'm backing Kanye 100%," Jay-Z tells Billboard by phone from London. "This is America. You should be able to say what you want to say. We have freedom of speech."
Jay-Z admits he shares some of West's views about the slow response to the disaster. "It's really numbing," he says. "You can't believe it's happening in America. You wonder, what's going on? Why were people so slow to react? I don't understand it."
Although Jay-Z says he hasn't "spoken to anyone about doing a concert event" to benefit Katrina victims, he says he wants to speak with Sean "Diddy" Combs about starting a fund exclusively to aid African-Americans in times of crisis. "Just in case anything like this happens in the future, we can do what the elder Bush and [former President Bill] Clinton are doing for our people specifically."

Although Jay-Z says he hasn't "spoken to anyone about doing a concert event" to benefit Katrina victims Maybe they can do it along the lines of Live8. They could hold a "Hurricane Awareness" concert, raise zero money for victims of Katrina, and all of the singers could be given more $10,000 watches to add to their collection. Heck, maybe we should have these singers paid for taking the time out of their busy schedules to host a charity event!
These people are outta their damned minds.

Your freedom of speech is on your own dime.
You pay for the broadcast time and then say what you want.
These people seem to be too stupid to know better.

It's sickening that the NFL has yet to drop that Kanye
racist from their opening entertainment line-up on September 8th.
Frickin' idiots.

Someone needs to ask these guys if they even voted in the last election.

Although Jay-Z says he hasn't "spoken to anyone about doing a concert event" to benefit Katrina victims, he says he wants to speak with Sean "Diddy" Combs about starting a fund exclusively to aid African-Americans in times of crisis. JAY-Z DOESN'T CARE ABOUT WHITE PEOPLE!

I see, no word about the atrocities committed against the survivors by other survivors in New Orleans.
I guess those young children raped and murdered meant nothing to Jay-Z and Kanye.
And no realization that the mayor is the one accountable.

...he says he wants to speak with Sean "Diddy" Combs about starting a fund exclusively to aid African-Americans in times of crisis.
I could be wrong but that sounds kinda' wrong, Jayz...kinda' racist...kinda' like judging people based on the color of their skin instead of the content of their heart.
Sumtin' like that.

Is Beyonce still dating this turkey?
JayZ, you may have raised yourself out of the ghetto and become rich, but your mind has stayed far behind, imo.

Excuse my ignorance but, who the hell is Jay-Z anyway? Disregard that. I really don't care who he/it? is.

Well shiz! I don't care about "black" people either.
I care about productive citizens, of any color, that are trying to do the right thing and help THEMSELVES recover for a devatating tragedy.
And these same "celebrities" quoted in this article have the gall to accuse other people of being racist?

....West declared that "George Bush doesn't care about black people"It's the most assinine and divisive thing to say. It's classic Liberalism. Democrats (Nagin and Blanco) get a pass.

Maybe someone should have a concert to benefit only the rescue workers who were shot at while trying to rescue the people Nagin & Blanco left behind. Especially, we should recognize the helicopter pilots who were shot at....c'mon, Jayz, that seems kind of fair.
Honestly! Let's take this horrifying tragedy, Jayz, and use it to drive a wedge between people based on something as stupid as skin color variations. I've got a great song you can remix, Jayz..."Everyday People"...Sly & the Family Stone...maybe you've heard of it.
SunnyD1182...I have no patience with Jayz's kind of thinking. No patience at all. Its like he and like minded choose to live in the past just to hold on to their grievances.
Sheesh, I thought only the Irish did that. (dunking and running my white, Irish *ss outta' here)

Does the NFL realize who watches their games. Of course they don't. Besides most football fans don't watch football for the sideshow. I mean freakshows. LOL!!!

If it weren't for Republicans, Jay-Z would be picking cotton.

Does this also mean he wants the honky to sit the next one out to showcase how it can be done right?
