Katrina, a photographic timeline: Powerful proof federal response was NOT slow (warning, many pics)
Yahoo News Photos ^ | 9/6/05

Posted on 09/06/2005 8:45:18 PM PDT by Wolfstar

The near total evacuation of the major American port city of New Orleans, Louisiana was accomplished between Tuesday afternoon, August 30 and Friday afternoon, September 2, 2005. This evacuation occurred while other search, rescue, relief and evacuation operations were simultaneously being conducted throughout the Gulf Coast between approximately Lafayette, Louisiana, on the west and the Florida panhandle on the east -– an area of about 90,000 sq. miles, or the size of the entire nation of Great Britain.

I'd say this amazing achievement is the opposite of slow. I'd say that it's a stunning accomplishment and one that demonstrates superb organization, remarkable logistics flow, and the greatness of the American spirit.

From the following photographic timeline, it should be clear to all reasonable people that the failure of government response occurred before the hurricane hit, and it occurred solely at the local and state level.

That's what it's all about. :-)

The larger point is that the biggest of the levee breaks occurred sometime around midnight Central time (documented in other threads) Monday into Tuesday. Federal help was already in the city then, and it accelerated enormously by Thursday. Except for the diehards, the city was totally evacuated late Friday. If that's slow, I want to know what fast is.

You are a fine reporter, Wolfstar.

Coming from you, Jonny, that's a most treasured compliment.

Did you see the pic of Kanye West I used to highlight the influx of celebrities after the relief effort was in high gear? Those people are like maggots on carrion. Blech!

All the press knows about oil industry is that it is "EEEEVVVVILLLL", and "BIG". That way they spout about "Evil BIG oil", and don't know a flooded containment dike in a tank farm from the grease in their skivvies.

There just aren't the words to tell you how angry it makes me to see what looks like a couple of thousand vehicles jammed up and unable to move while the two inbound lanes are empty.

You and me both. We simply CAN'T allow the story to be what the Feds did "wrong." We must turn up the heat on Blanco and Nagin. Why? Because every single one of us -- and our families -- rely on our state and local governments when disasters or terrorist strikes happen. If this crap happened in Louisiana, there's no reason to think it won't happen in other states.

So we should absolutely pillory Blanco and Nagin. Not because they're Democrats, but because they were criminally negligent in doing their sworn duty.

You made the conscious decision not to include any pictures of the rampaging and looting animals.

I searched by day/posting time, every single photo on Yahoo that came up with Katrina and a date. I saw no photos of looters. If anyone has any, please add them to this thread. Thanks,

I note that there are black police, NG and EMS being downtrodden by the Bush administration and a number of WHITE survivors in those photos.

Don't know if it's been mentioned on this thread or not yet, but Nagin JUST TODAY, September 7, authorized military and law enforcement to forcibly evacuate New Orleans residents who refuse to leave even now.

I thought I picked up every picture Wolfstar posted. I can't figure out if your comment is meant in jest (and if so, what it means) or if it means I accidentally missed some pictures.

There was no delay in getting help to New Orleans

Thanks for adding to the documentation and confirming the truth.

It should be clear to anyone with an open, reasonable mind that the MEDIA LIED...

"The Media" is trying to oust a sitting US President. Isn't this treason? Shouldn't we have a special congressional investigation into this?

I think it's past time that the good citizens of this free country deal with "the Media" and reclaim our good name around the world. George W. Bush represents and symbolizes you and I, hence, "the Media" indirectly are after us too.

Wolfstar, you are leading the charge with your brilliant pictorial. Thank you for taking the time to put this together to counter the lies being propagated by the MSM.

Got to hand it to Nagin...he acts decisively in a crisis. So what if he acts decisively a week after the crisis has hit. It's hard work being Mayor. [snicker and end sarcasm]

TPC, you didn't miss any pics. There are no photos of the actual looting -- not deliberate. I didn't find any in the search I did. I searched by date/time stamp. If there are photos of actual looters out there, I'd love to have them on this thread. What I'll do is search Yahoo photos using looter as a keyword.

niteshift, the point of this thread was to do a photographic timeline. Looting is mentioned in the timeline, and there is a photo of one building set on fire by looters. Actual photos of looting would be useful, but they do not add to the timeline per se.

...but w/o those looting photos it does not catch the historical moment.

I don't disagree with you, niteshift. It's just that my focus was on the timeline and when federal help arrived in NOLA, when it ramped up, etc. It's not so much about catching the historical moment as telling the truth that the federal response was not slow. However, I'll do a search later on Yahoo using the keyword looter and see what pops up. Will post representative images of what I find.

"Fast" is the way the Mayor, Governor, media and other incompetents moved to shift blame once they realized they had screwed the pooch on this whole thing.

Fast is Jessee Jackass Playing the race card....

Fast is how the Leftist anal retentives jumped on the Bash Bush bandwagon after Cindy Sheeite was no longer real 'news'.

Fast is the way some snot nosed ghetto punk became a household word by making wildeyed accusations against the President of the United States

Fast is the way rinos jumped ship to join the leftists, without taking time to find out the facts...

Fast is the way Hillary saw and siezed the opportunity to bail out fellow Dems by having a Commission to "investigate" events before they finish unfolding, guaranteeing that if she runs for POTUS, she will garner the votes of the dead in NOLA back to pre Columbian times.

There is lots "fast" happening here, and not all of it good.

The president and all the people involved in the relief efforts have done--and continue to do a tremendous job. Thanks for this thread!
