a pitching wedge under the bed to protect my family

I have no idea what a pitching wedge is, but if he's gonna protect his family doesn't the maxim, "The right tool for the right job" apply?

Are guns so icky to people that they would rather use a "pitching wedge" to accomplish what an appropriate caliber gun would do better?

Not to the best of my knowledge. I have fired 00 and #4 thru my slug guns before. I have a tar hunt that I used a 00 through and it actually opens the pattern a bit as I have discovered vs my smooth bore versions at the same range, lenght of barrel , choke, and load.

I was impressed with the accuracy of the slugs with that rifled tube. Seems pretty versatile. Close up scatter gun with a little reach if needed. Now I need a tritium front sight.

Yep I'm just thinking of ordering their 16D with the 9 inch. Course it's a NFA AOW short barrel order, so paperwok is mandatory but that thing folded will fit in a brief case. It isn't much on looks but seems a good trunk rig if traffic gets really bad......Have ya heard any comments on that rig ?:o)

I have carried a Glock 18 in the past when I was a papered pooch for uncle sugar and still have a number of the 32 round sticks I use in a Glock 34 and 19.

Good looking rig for handgun and carbine common ammo use ya have in your picture....

Stay safe !

Hard-core liberal coming around...

It will never happen. He might "come around" to the logical conclusion that you don't bring a pitching wedge to a gun fight, but this twit is as liberal as it gets.

He does not have the capacity to think straight with any regularity.

I live in the Chicago area and try to avoid his paper, but never ever read past the headline of his column. It's too depressing to think that people actually think like he does and look forward to his dribble.

Yes. Shorten the grip. Short backstroke. Headspeed. Fix the drywall later.

Found out companies are hiring "house sitters" aka armed guards for some of the "mansions" down in the gulf coast region. Up to 1250 $ a day in some cases. Minimum of 500$ per day from rumors I hear.....:o)

I loaned my Dressed Benelli M1 and a pair of PVS7B NVG's to a friend headed off on that job this AM....He wanted to take one of my M4 Bushmasters but I talked him down to house sitter mode.....He's got a black eagle benelli that he hunts and shoots trap and 5 stage with so the benelli IMHO was the better choice for the guy based on his demonstrated ability and experience with that action. Gave him 200 rounds of #4 Buck and slugs with instructions to leave if he had to use all of that ammo.

He's taking his dog and the Benelli with his 1911A1 along with a rented sat cellular so we'll see if the job was worth the money.... He's alledgedly responsible for all his own food , ammo , water, comm , transportation etc so we'll have to wait and see how good a "deal" this post anarchy job is.

Anyone who doesn't own guns already for their own protection is not using very good judgement.

Unless they live in one of the major cities that prohibits such ownership.

Blackwater is also doing a rush hiring job of ex military and LEOs to go to New Orleans to provide security for tech repair crews. All gear provided, but pay is lower. They will provide all gear because all gear will be collected and burned when you leave. IOW, you will probably leave with hepatitis etc.

Keep a S & W 686 for home defense plus 3 speed loaders.

Have a AR10A2 w/ 4 20rnd mags ready to go, but not a round under the pin. (Have a total of 8 20rnd mags and 2,000rnds if things really go sideways).

Travel with a Beretta 92 + 5x20rnd clips loaded w/ 124gr +P+ hyrdo-shoks.

Don't have one yet, but a Remington 870 would be my choice if I could only have one weapon.

"Either way, you will dissuade most malefactors with a shotgun" The sound of a shotgun being racked is a sure attention getter. It is my opinion, if someone hears the racking of a shotgun shell, they are the next to die! No. The shotgun should be charged when you engage. You ain't there to scare them, you are there to stop the threat. This ain't a movie. You do not want to be sleepy, nervous and scared talking to a tuned up goblin. You will need to make a split second decision to shoot them. Guessing whether or not you are locked and loaded shouldn't be part of that decision. Screwing around with your weapon will get you killed.

You must have mis-read my post! I said if someone hears the racking of my shotgun, they are the NEXT to die!

Of course I would never advocate violating the law, but...........

Yeah, I know. It's a decision I have been struggling with. Kind of one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations.

Don't get a gun, get picked off by criminals. Get a gun, the government sends you to an anal-rape chamber.

Decisions, decisions ....

Move to Texas or Colorado! If you don't own a gun when you arrive, they will loan you one! Anal rape chamber, Good Lord where do you live? Vermont?

You know, sometimes I wish I could pick up and move to a more rural area. If it wasn't for the pesky job thing.

The USA. Anal rape chambers in the USA's "correction system" are usual.

remember hearing a story about some town down south during the civil rights riots where a cop pulled out his war relic ma deuce and mounted it on top of the police station. the surrounding cities were burned and looted, his was never touched, and he never had to fire a shot. firearms are the defining deterrant to crime.

if you're looking for a multipurpose, shtf gun, get a shotgun. preferably 12ga (if you can handle the recoil)
a shotgun is the most versatile weapon, the most forgiving, and the most likely to have ammo available everywhere. and it's fairly simple. you can hunt anything for squirrel to people to grizzly with it, depending on the shell you use. and if you run out of ammo, it makes a fairly effective club.

Yes time to get a gun AND

as it is shown by the NO PD forcing a law abiding woman out of her home, do not tell the police.

The LESSON OF New Orleans, do not trust the PD. They are beholding to the politics of the mayor not the law or the citizens.
