President Bush had a very busy day today, meeting with Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings and First Lady Laura Bush, to discuss the educational needs of children displaced by Hurricane Katrina and how states might be able to absorb the cost of the large numbers of new students. He also met with the Cabinet to discuss the recovery efforts following the hurricane, and reuniting family members with each other, healthcare provision and finances.
At noon, the President met with representatives from national voluntary organizations to discuss how best to help the Americans who are evacuees from the hurricane. He pledged a full investigation into the response to the hurricane.
The President and First Lady also paid their respects to the late Chief Justice of the United States, William Rehnquist, spending a few moments bowing their heads at his casket.
Continue to pray for the President and the people in the ravaged Gulf Coast region, and enjoy this island of refuge from the blind attacks against our GOOD President on the Daily Dose!
I did myself a favor and I just turned off the TV - or changed the channel. I'm fed up with listening to the whining and complaining.
The one's whining the loudest are the ones who haven't done anything.
Well .. over the holiday, 24 was having a marathon - so it was great not to have to watch the news. Besides, I was cleaning out all my mom's stuff - and my sister and I were much too busy to watch TV anyway.
Now that my mom is in a nursing home and won't be returning to my apartment - my sisters and I have been getting rid of all her stuff. It's almost like having a death in the family .. they're still around, but .. they're not. It's strange.
It's a hard time; my mom is not doing very well and it really tenses me out; she lives with us so I see it 24/7, as I am sure you did.
Yes, it sure did stress me out. My doctor said it was the reason why I couldn't lose weight. Today it's been a week since she's been in the nursing home, and I've already lost 3 pounds. Trying to care for her by myself was almost over-whelming.
But .. I was fortunate that my 2 sisters supported my decision, and they were even surprised I had waited so long, when they realized how difficult she had been to take care of.
I agree with you 100% about Karen Hughes. The WH hasn't been the same without her.
Not only are there FACTS here on FR. But there are pictures too. No one can deny the fact of those busses sitting in the parking lot.
I don't know what the solution is, but the rescuers did the right thing.
We now have men complaining that the helicopter rescuers took the women and children off the roof first and a different helicopter came back for them and they are separated from their family.
Evidently women and children first is an alien concept to some people.
No wonder the folks in Houston believe this was a deliberate act to cleanse NO of the poor.
Oh I am so glad to hear about the SA program. I donated to the SA and convinced my kids to bypass the Red Cross.
I read it in the paper. Either the North County Times or the San Diego Tribune. We take both.
I'm sure a link to the paper would be gone, as it was a few months ago.
A man who worked for the RC received an email in which they announced their celebration with others on Gay Pride Day, or somesuch, and asked everyone's participation at some level. He replied to the email that he could not, as he viewed homosexuality as nothing to be celebrated. And, he mentioned that he was a Christian, and adhered to the scripture for his basis.
He was let go. He was not a good example of tolerance :(
Freedom of Religion?
right....
It may have something to do with them not understanding that women and especially children are weaker and can't last as long in adverse circumstances, when endurance and sheer strength may be needed, like if you slipped into the water or had to cling to something to survive.
Of course, this hasn't been explained very well in the last decade or so of P.C. pretend that there are no differences between men and women.
That's what we all have to do. I've said in my e-mails that we COUNT on Fox for the truth. When we get leftist spin coming from reasonable reporters, it's time to make a lot of noise...........especially when they don't have the facts straight.
I'm still bewildered that Charles K said that stuff about the President's going back to the Gulf because his first trip was a failure. It's just plain wrong, and he should have known it.
The trouble is, once those lies are repeated on a reliable network, you can't put the entire cat back in the bag. Somebody will have heard on Fox that Bush was slow on the uptake, and will never hear the facts that refute it.
THAT is what bugs me most.
These aren't SBH kids, but they were way behind.
The kids love the program, and so do the parents and the school. The thing I like best about it is that the parents have to come to the SA once a week (I think), and the whole family sits down to dinner together, and they learn to talk together, and be a family and the parents learn how to help their kids in a completely friendly environment.
That's what so many of these families are missing.
(It was funded by a huge donation, an old storage area renovated which now looks absolutely fabulous, and it is manned by volunteers).
I'm not sure how many of these programs are around the country, but this one has the potential of literally transforming inner cities.
Glad you liked it
