Bob Denver, whose portrayal of goofy first mate Gilligan on the 1960s television show "Gilligan's Island," made him an iconic figure to generations of TV viewers, has died, his agent confirmed Tuesday. He was 70.
Denver, who underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery earlier this year, died at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina, according to agent Mike Eisenstadt. Denver's death was first reported by "Entertainment Tonight."

There were two.
Milton Armitage, portrayed by a young Warren Beatty and, after Beatty's departure, Armitage's cousin Chatsworth Osborne, Jr., played by Steve Franken.

Rest in peace, Bob, and say Hello! to Judge Rehnquist for me.

Now sing it to the tune of "Stairway to Heaven". Seems more appropriate, somehow.
Rest it Peace, Little Buddy, you brought a smile to more faces than you can possibly know.

I'm 43, and as kid I grew up watching "Gilligan's Island," both the original shows and re-runs. Bob Denver was great, as was all the cast. Godspeed and God Bless.

Sid and Marty Krofft were on some seriously strong acid in the 70's.

Man, and I always thought the Professor would be the next one in line to check out. Lately he's looked like he was in advanced stages of decomposition.

My favorite one was where they were about to get off the island and Gilligan messed it up. Then they had coconut cream pie. You'll have to be more specific, that describes pretty much every episode.
Luck dog for meeting Dawn Wells, I so had the hots for Mary Ann when I was ten.

Lore is that Bob Denver insisted that the "and the rest" be replaced with the other characters' names in the opening theme.
