Major pipeline that distributes gasoline to the Eastern United States is running at full capacity.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - A major pipeline supplying refined crude products from the Gulf to the East Coast is now running at full capacity and is delivering into all locations along its system.

The Colonial Pipeline, based in Alpharetta, Ga., returned to full operating conditions late Monday and full commercial electrical power has been restored to the pipeline, the company said in a statement.

Good news, to be sure.

Question though, have we ever seen gas prices lower, after going up (in the recent past)?

Somehow, I think we're stuck with an average of $3.00 a gallon now. After the next crisis, we'll be thinking of the "good ol days" when it was $3.00 a gallon, as it will then go up to $4, then $5, etc.

I sure would love to be wrong.

Why should they? The price gouging stores are enjoying record profits.

The media will do the following with this:

1. Blame the delay for getting it running on Bush.
2. Give the N.O. and LA governments full credit for getting this up in such a short period of time.
3. Never once mention that the main problem with gasoline prices is the fact that we need to build more refineries.

I can just see the gas prices decreasing as fast as they went up. (sarc)

I'm cure that all this has done is to make the Colonial Pipeline a massive target for IED's in multiple locations. This hurricane has "lifted the skirt" on any idea of heartland economic security we had.

The terrorist could also make a fortune by speculating in th futures market before any event of their own making.

It worked for Hillary Clinton with the cattle futures and Health care debacle and her ownership of health care company stocks.

Not that I want this to happen, just rambling.

This morning on the way to work I watched two young men in two different trucks jam the pedal down when the light turned green and proceed to slam on the brakes at the next red light which they could see when they took off.

When I stop seeing that then I'll know gas is really getting expensive.

The media will do the following with this:

4. File this story next to the photos of the New Orleans bus fleets in flooded lots. "It's not news if we can't bitch about it."

How can that be? How can oil/gas/whatever be flowing into poor black neighborhoods? Why if that were true, I'm sure the media would be reporting it.

The refineries are still pushing through oil that was purchased at much higher prices. The fewer refineries there are, the longer it will take the expensive stuff to cycle through.

I'm not an econ expert by any stretch of the imagination. This is just a guess based on my understanding of supply and demand.
