Amazing - 8 days later and the locals are still firing on the rescue choppers! What is it with these people? What can they possibly be trying to accomplish? Anyhow, glad this is documented and the perp is in custody.

Yes, three city blocks have burned down....supposedly candles started the fire....embers are spreading and igniting the wood shingle roofs.

Considering that most home insurance policies pay for fire but not for flood, could some of these fires have been started intentionally?

A helicopter drops water on a fire in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans September 6, 2005. Floodwaters that swamped New Orleans slowly receded on Tuesday after engineers plugged breaks in levees and pumped water to drain the historic city of the stagnant pool left by Hurricane Katrina. Black smoke billowed across the sky from several building fires, the latest safety threat after Katrina slammed into the U.S. Gulf Coast on August 29, possibly killing thousands of people.

Katrina overwhelmed in every way possible: decimating the coast of our own beloved state; breaching the levees of beautiful New Orleans; stretching the limits of towns now home to so many displaced residents.

They do know "decimate" means reduce by 1/10th, right?

That and "that begs the question" when they mean "raises the question."

It is sad that the MSM is so illiterate.

Just read on another thread that Oprah filmed her tv show at the Astrodome and said that the Fed Gov needs to apologize to the flood victims..

Today's relocation of about 4,000 evacuees from the Astrodome and Houston's other giant shelters to two Galveston-based cruise ships has been delayed because shelter residents don't want to go. Volunteers trying to fill buses bound for Kentucky also found few takers.

"Some of these people are still looking for their families," said Andrew Biar, a spokesman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. "They don't want to go. They feel safe here."

"The dome is home for them," said Lt. Joe Leonard of the U.S. Coast Guard and area commander for the Houston shelters. "For residents, another immediate relocation is simply too much, too soon."

a huge fire in the Garden District.

Oh, no. It's so lovely. Is there anyone to fight the fire or would they be shot at.
