That sounds about right. They have six members who are "appointed" by mayors of NOLA.... and I believe most of the mayors have been pretty big crooks? Someone was going to fill me in on Moon Landrieu at some point.
Poor Barbara Bush...her son is always telling us how blunt she is...
and she proved it yesterday....and is being flamed for it.

Don't know if these qualify as "news" but here are two things I can report.
Coming home yesterday from NC down I95 we passed 5 US Army convoys from Fort Bragg. They had "Katrina" marked in caulk on some of the vehicles, so we knew where they were headed. Loaded with supplies. Two of them were 82nd Air Borne companies. So Feds are still taking relief to the Katrina area.
Second, Talk radio here in upstate SC has reported this afternoon that more than 1000 ppl are coming and the school district is going to accept children.
Rummy is on Hannity radio right now. Hannity asked him if there is any way the miliary could have responded sooner. He said "You have to be invited."
Nagin "Can you imagine living here? These people were here with nothing."
How can he say this crap with a straight face? Ray, YOU put them in there with no food and no water!
I missed that part of Rush's show today, but it sounds correct-- here in Georgia, the state is riddled with "Authorities"-- little independent fifedoms with their own budgets, staffs, and lots of ( our tax ) money to spend.
Appointed by the current Governor, they are usually staffed by political croneys and people owed favors to, and only the Guv has any hold over them. You can't vote the rascals out of office.
Well, I said it yesterday and will say it again... if the press wants to take on Barbara Bush... God help them. She isn't afraid to call a spade a spade.
