Former first lady and mother to President Bush said Monday that evacuees from New Orleans have found a home in Houston.
"Almost everyone Ive talked to says we're going to move to Houston," Barbara Bush told NPR.
"What Im hearing is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.
"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this (she chuckles slightly)--this is working very well for them."
Editor & Publisher notes the former First Lady's remarks were aired this evening on National Public Radio's "Marketplace" program.
Developing...
If any of you have a 70-something year old mother you know they can say be very outspoken at times and say things that come out differently than they want. I'll give her a pass on this, it seems harmless enough, but I'll bet the MSM won't. They have no heart...
The truth is never stupid.
It was the chuckle that got her. Or they inserted it.
If they want to attack Barbara, let them. Only an absolute fool would do so.
There is NOTHING wrong with what she said. Only the left & their teensy, twisted minds could find something wrong with the statement.
Leave Barbara alone...or I may have to punch you. ;) (Don't blame me, I got the idea from Ms. Landrieu)
They will have culture shock. Being treated with respect and not as a voting bloc.
The Democrats in Louisiana want them back on the Plantation.
The former First Lady is beloved by most Americans. The left will be making a mistake if they attack her over this.
She is right. Why does the truth hurt so much these days.
After blathering for days about how the whole problem of the hurricane was cause because there were too many "underprivileged" in New Orleans, what do they want?
Unless you are spewing the PC "sensitivity" line, these idiots will always be all over you.
What ever happened to Olbermans' "Ohio Vote Fraud" ravings? Has he "gotten to the bottom" of that, yet?
Your are forgetting how the game works. The media creates the meme firs, in this case "Bush family is out of touch with the common man" (as if the limo libs even shop for their own groceries), the look for random stuff to fill it in. Her statement is good enough for them.
The left may distort it... but all the new Louisiana Gumbo restaurants that are going to open in Texas over the next six months won't lie.
They can't. The Congressional Black Caucus and other prominent black "leaders" said that Bush was leaving the POOR blacks in NO to die. They'll have to explain the difference between POOR and underprivlidged.
What? You mean they didn't think it was so great in Democrat paradise?
Ding ding ding!
Also... it's (a little) harder for the dead to vote in Texas.
Yeah, kinda like moving from a Saddam controlled Iraq to a post-Saddam Iraq. ;)
One lady interviewed at the convention center in Austin says "This is one of the cleanest, nicest cities I've ever seen, I'm staying here". Welcome.
