ABC Poll: Bush not taking brunt of criticism
ABC NEWS ^ | 9/5/05 | GARY LANGER

Posted on 09/05/2005 12:53:34 PM PDT by ricoshea

Sept. 4, 2005 — Americans are broadly critical of government preparedness in the Hurricane Katrina disaster — but far fewer take George W. Bush personally to task for the problems, and public anger about the response is less widespread than some critics would suggest.

Full Coverage: Katrina The Polling Unit: Archives

In an event that clearly has gripped the nation — 91 percent of Americans are paying close attention — hopefulness far outweighs discontent about the slow-starting rescue. And as in so many politically charged issues in this country, partisanship holds great sway in views of the president's performance.

The most critical views cross jurisdictions: Two-thirds in this ABC News/Washington Post poll say the federal government should have been better prepared to deal with a storm this size, and three-quarters say state and local governments in the affected areas likewise were insufficiently prepared.

I have never ever EVER been asked to participate in one of these opinion polls...and no one that I know ever has, either. How about any here...did anyone here receive a phone call for this poll? How about any of the other "approval" polls?

I don't trust any of these and I doubt the President pays much attention, either.

" I was at DU this morning for a good laugh and saw their reaction to these poll results..they insist the MSM has propped Bush way up and his poll numbers are actually in the 20-30% range.."

That's what happens when your main source of TV News is PMSNBC.

CNN, PMSNBC will both hold a meeting to tell their staff to try harder

The memo to the staff will remind them to mention in their reporting that Bush's approval rating after 9/11 was 91%.

44% still said "blame Bush." That's a ridiculously high number.

44% --- That must mean some Democrats don't blame Bush. That must mean some Democrats are freeing their minds from following the party line..

I'll bet more liberals will be jumping ship as they watch the SS MSM continue floating, engines out of fuel, toward the cataracts.

I'd like to see their staff dangling from the end of a rope and/or set afire. Such should be the death of a traitorous lot, be.

I think their staff is playing identity politics from their perspective.

For those who have been following this from day one it is quite clear where the blame belongs. That is probably why the poll is somewhat in Bush's favor dispite that rantings of the libs and MSM.

There is a saying in Texas that applies to Nagin and Blanco. "All hat and no cattle".

Yep under-educated jurnocrats shrilling their tripe in order to shape the public perception of the uneducated masses.

CNN rarely lets, civics, and the facts get in the way of their agenda.

Karl Rove may be the mastermind but I'm pretty sure he sold the designs of the weather machine to Halliburton so that all the oil execs could have one years ago.

"ABC Poll: Bush not taking brunt of criticism"

And why should he? From man made disasters to natural disaster and every damn possible thing that goes wrong in between the do nothing Blamer party, along with their allies; the phony liberal media and enemies of America love to criticize President Bush. Blind hatred, jealousy and paranoia binds the lot of them together.

My response to the Blamer party is; get off your whiny ass and do something to earn the money we pay you.

To the media; It's all over, nobody cares what you have to say anymore, your irrelevant, go find another line of work.

To our enemies, Tough luck, it won't work, G. Bush isn't going anywhere, but you are, straight to hell.

There, that felt good. /end rant

You are so right. CNN just now trumpeting that Bush is showing he's not a 'strong leader', the one thing people had believed about him while his approval numbers (on everything else), were 'declining'. Bush is shown as the loser he is. Makes you sick. They'll delight in tearing down Bush and this administration, no matter what it does to the country. What about 'unity', as Fat Teddy and Schumer demand? Oh, that road goes only one way.

Name a poll that will not show disapproval of what or how GWB is doing. There is a block, largely the anti-war crowd will criticize GWB on anything and everything. Polls are meaningless in the current political environment.

The best article I have read is on todays NY Post by Debra Orin called..LA. MISSTEPS AND D.C. SPATS BOGGED DOWN RESCUE

By DEBORAH ORIN

September 5, 2005 -- Louisiana and New Orleans officials gravely stumbled before and after Katrina's deadly slam into the Gulf Coast — and a strange paralysis reportedly gripped the White House in the devastation's aftermath.
State and local officials have come under rising criticism for their un-Rudy Giuliani-like response to the crisis. Despite reports of the escalating threat — and a city plan spelling out mandatory evacuation parameters — they did too little too late.

A mandatory evacuation was finally declared on Aug. 28 — with Katrina less than 24 hours away — and only after President Bush...

Every moonbat with a tinhat knows that Bush is in charge of the HARP program and caused a modification in the weather to drown rat voters.

Airhead America has the inside scoop on this. Bush also caused 9/11, War for oil, and a multitude of unpardonable sins.

When will we wake-up and start believing such crusaders for justice like Cindy Shite-han and bring down this evil empire?

Pretty soon George might level the left coast in a diabolical plot to emliminate the rat party. California could be the next Lousitania! Get a grip, Bush is the anti-Christ!

The MSM taught me this and the 'rat party has fully endorsed this. Who should I believe? I have to go now, some idiot on Air-head America has given me the right to loot, and I ain't goin' to Walmart. I am goin' to some pretty high class places to do this.

Blessings, Bobo

To the Left/ MSM, the story on blame for Katrina was written before the storm even ended. Kind of like how whoever else Bush nominates for the Supreme Court, will be derided as "extremist" (code word for someone who does not tow the abortionist/NARAL line) and "racist" or "sexist" for not bowing at the altar of affirmative action. The talking points are already prepared. Just fill the name in the blank.

How long until moveon.org/ Soros recruits the new Cindy Sheehan/ Jersey Girls template Katrina victim to bash Bush?

If an ABC poll is showing Bush doing OK it's only because they are cooking another poll to show him crashing. I never believe anything I see or hear on ABC.

Just saw Wolfie Blitzed with that idiot pollster trying to say that even though the local and state people are taking more of a hit, "Bush better watch out."

Uh huh.
