Chavez' moral credibility notwithstanding, does Bush take an inappropriate amount of vacation time? I have felt sometimes that he should be spending more time in Washington, if only for perception's sake.

It's not like he's in an igloo without a phone. If I had W's job I wouldn't be taking vacations, I'd be hiding under the bed!

Is it really up to you, or us, to determine how much vacation time the President gets? Is the President of the United States responsible for evacuating a city?

Hugo Chavez spends an inordinate amount of time obsessing over Bush and the USA.
Now I know why the Dems love him so much.

It's hilarious how the NYT and the WaPo pay so much attention to little Commie dictators. I guess they admire and idolize them.

Why is the Washington Post publishing this? Have they become the propaganda arm for Hugo Chavez?

See, I think of "vacation" as not only physically leaving my workplace for a while, but leaving work, and all its trappings, behind. Our presidents can't really do that. Dubya certainly can't right now. They can dress down, go out and ride the range or whatever between briefings, but they can't leave the job completely behind them in DC. Presidential "vacations" are not so much vacations as glorified off-site assignments.

Does Bush take an inappropriate amount of vacation time? For crying out loud, a President is never really on vacation. The weight of the world follows him wherever he goes.

I wonder how many other people on vacation still have to be on call at a moments notice, still have to receive foreign leaders, still have to be briefed daily, etc. I don't exactly call what President Bush does a vacation. He was just away from D.C. It doesn't mean he got to get away from the stresses of being the leader of the free world.

does Bush take an inappropriate amount of vacation time? I have felt sometimes that he should be spending more time in Washington, if only for perception's sake. Did you ever notice that the Senate and House are not in session? Most of them have fled back home too. I doubt that any of the Senate or House committees are doing work by phone conferences.
It's interesting that the left argues that we all should have the 4 weeks paid vacation of the Europeans, except for Republican presidents, who deserve no vacation.
The only reason we know where Bush is and not where all the Senators are is that politically important things do happen while Bush is at Crawford, so the press has to be there and sweat it out (and complain).
