The U.S. Senate is scheduled tomorrow to decide whether to clear the way for the most odious, anti-American piece of legislation in memory: S. 147, the "Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act."
Incredibly, as of now, more than 61 senators are expected to vote to begin a process that would ineluctably unravel the United States as a nation.
This legislation has been advanced in the spirit of pandering that has come to characterize all too much of our national political life. In this case, the pandering is on behalf of an ethnic community that is largely a figment of some politicians' imaginations...This could involve creating a new Hawaiian monarchy and perhaps lead to the islands' secession from the Union.
Hawaii's longtime Democratic Sens. Daniel Akaka and Daniel Inouye are leading the charge for S. 147...
A clearly unconstitutional effort to legislatively manufacture a new "tribe" out of one of the most heterogenous and fully assimilated populations in America...
Should senators violate their oath of office -- which obliges them to "support and defend the Constitution" -- by enacting S. 147, they will invite an even greater problem down the road. Other self-designating communities can be expected to demand recognition of their rights to have their own government and sovereign laws.

Brings to my mind the Nuremberg Laws of Nazi Germany.
This reminds me of the self-proclaimed "African-Americans" who, when disaster struck in the form of a hurricane, became indignant at being called refugees, and insisted they were Americans. Yes, everyone wants to be a plain ol American when they need help, but they want to be separate and hyphenated when times are good. Screw 'em all. Let 'em go.
Don't forget the worst of all--Muslims, and Sharia Law. This would open the door wide open.
In many ways, this is like the nonsense arguments for reparations for slavery. My ancestors showed up here and lived exclusively in the north, never having taken part in slavery, only taking part in ending it. Why should I have to pay any reparations to slaves, give land back to Indians, or watch as Hawaii slips away through legislation?
They let the Indians get away with it.
Any chance of Texas being able to leave this sinking ship?
If this is allowed to happen it will be as great a tragedy to our country as Katrina. True, the impact will be felt over a long period of time and "seep in" so to say, but it will be devastating to the United States of America.
The first step was to destroy the educational system in the US. It allows a number of "plusses" (at least to the leftists) like creating a government dependant underclass, the lack of an understanding of history that allows (uneducated) Americans to believe that there's nothing special about the USA, and the concept of "multiculturalism," which posits that no cultures are better than others.
Once they've got a dependant population who believes that there's nothing special about the US, that's when you open the floodgates to illegal aliens. Once you've got an uneducated underclass who can't communicate with the majority of people in the community... Oh, and let's not forget about keying on the differences between people...
The USA used to be a "melting pot" of peoples, which added to the strength of the USA. With seperation and division of people by their heritage, the strength of the USA as a coherent power, and simply a a country, is diminished.

It's only when whitey does it.
The Confederates screwed up when they tried this 150 years ago using guns. All they needed was a pen.
It seems to me that either we want Hawaii as a state, or we don't. The Democrats want it as a state, because it has two safe Democrat seats. Well, then, let them choose.
And why are some Republicans voting for this idiocy?
Ok, and the downside is...?
"We have just one problem other than keeping our own money, and that is cutting off welfare to the "old wealth", those who sit on central bank boards and skim earnings off of money they move around and give kick backs to corrupt politicians."
That's the game isn't it? Some people never have enough.
The Hawaiians a want their injun casinos. This piece of legislation will get them very close to Federal recognition as a native American tribe.
It's all about the Benjamins
I agree this is the beginning of the eventual disintegration of the United States we know.
Aloha Pinging.

Thanks.
We should try to stop, delay, or water down this bill.
Bump.
