If I get this pasted go to the near bottom of the Washington Post article and see how K. Blanco thought it better to avoid Martial Law declared in her state than to save the lives of her people.

and - she is advised by the law firm of Clintoon's ex, former director Witt in how to avoid a "takeover"

Truth is truth. It just shows that in his quest for power he can be bought like stolen goods off the back of a truck.

"so that is what Mike Chertoff has been trying to say, or not say all day. The woman refused on FRIDAY to let the federal agencies come in"

You know, I don't get this "fall on your sword for democrat incompetency" , of Republican's. If this is true, it should be shouted from the rooftops.

This has nothing to do with having a "new tone" of cooperation with the opposing party. This is about incompetence, and callousness, on the part of elected officials, that led to horrendous suffering and loss of life. The people have a right to know what happened.

The next time someone asks president Bush, or any pubbie-"Why didn't you get federal help there sooner?"- the answer is- "We offered the gov. of NOLA federal assistance on Friday, before the storm hit, it was turned down". If the gov. still hasn't declared an emergency, (as I read somewhere)- or what day she did turn power/control over to the feds-(and how succesul it was, once it reached the scene-how many rescued, in how much time,exc.. the people should be told that too.

Any questions having to do with the governor of NOLA can simply be answered:"You'll have to ask the governor about that". Simple really. It's always best to tell people the truth, and let the chips fall where they may.

I heard some politician from down there say that the Democrat party was angry because Nagin supported Bobby Jindal in the last election.

I don't remember the channel or his name but it was about the time that Livingston made his comments that a lot of hard questions needed to be answered by state and local officials.

Knowing a little about Louisiana politics it didn't sound to far fetched.

I have heard so much I may have been wrong.

"There is NO spinning, it is fact.
I heard it on TV."

I also heard that the reason all of this happened is because the whole land is sinking because we're pumping oil. We need to stop all oil production down there at once and look to alternative forms of education.... blah, blah, blah.

Talk about throwing gasoline on a fire...

Brain-dead, crybaby RATS wil NEVER... *EVER* get it, no matter WHAT happens to them.

Has anyone noticed that most or a majority of the volunteers seen on television seem to have white skin.

I wonder if anyone took the time to point that out to the race baiter's and the MSM.

"You know Bush hates Blacks don't you?

He also refused to give money to blacks for their levees."

I know. Jesse Jackson told me on tv that this was happening so I just had to believe it.

BINGO! This lack of a plan of evacuation and what not, has more to do with the incompetency of the elected officials in the mayors office.

The next time someone asks president Bush, or any pubbie-"Why didn't you get federal help there sooner?"- the answer is- "We offered the gov. of NOLA federal assistance on Friday, before the storm hit, it was turned down".

Right again, and furthermore, Blanco and Nagin issued a "voluntary" evacuation, whereas President Bush issued the "mandatory" evacuation of Louisiana residents before the Governor issued the "voluntary" evacuation. The incompetency factor goes far and wide as far as the Louisiana Democrats are concerned.

I heard that too among the cacophony of "blame Bush" rhetoric, and immediately thought it was all a bunch of utter nonsense.

she is advised by the law firm of Clintoon's ex, former director Witt in how to avoid a "takeover"

In making the announcement today on behalf of teaming partners Dewberry, URS Corporation and James Lee Witt Associates, IEM Director of Homeland Security Wayne Thomas explained that the development of a base catastrophic hurricane disaster plan has urgency due to the recent start of the annual hurricane season which runs through November. National weather experts are predicting an above normal Atlantic hurricane season with six to eight hurricanes, of which three could be categorized as major.

Witt has more tentacles than all you can eat at a calamari feast.

Welcome GF Man, I'm kinda new here, but you are correct! The responsibility rests with the plan originated with the Mayor! Beyond that it goes with the Governor! In my state the FED ain't mov'in in without permission! Period.
