WWL stating that the mold has grown in the homes all they way up the walls....
Well, that didn't take long at all. Want to bet it's some sort of everything-resistant supermold?
That sounds right too. It happens quick. 90-plus temps, high humidity, stagnant water. Even when stranded people were outside in the elements the main reason they suffered so much was because of the climate. If you've not experienced it, it's difficult to describe. Imagine trying to breath through a thick, woolen blanket... imagine you are soaking wet at the same time. Now... also imagine being constantly bit by mosquitos. I moved my wife down there early in our marriage and I'm still hearing about it.
They said yesteday that as long as water is standing in the homes they wouldn't grow mold below the water line, but since it is so humid there the moisture wicking up the walls would mold very quickly and as soon as water is drained the rest would mold. Also the wood-framed houses would become more prone to fire (for some reason that escapes me now)...
The radio here in Dallas had a Houston physician on who said they are seeing TB and several people have presented with flesh-eating bacteria. Some doctors are giving antibiotics to everyone, as nearly every person with an open wound has developed nasty infections, and this flesh-eating thing is nothing to mess around with.
Good Lord, that gives me the willies!
