U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.
Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.
To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.
Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage,reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.
WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.
WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.
WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.
WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.
WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.
WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).
WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.
United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.
Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

San Antonio has wanted an NFL team, but since it's something like 39th in market shares as far as television, It doesn't seem like the NFL would want them here.
At least that's a complaint I have heard when it's the Spurs in the NBA Finals or winning the NBA Championships as opposed to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In case you haven't heard California is near bankrupt, and had their governor recalled. It has always stepped up to the plate, this time around they are having trouble filling their own plate..illegals cost over 10 billion a year, hospitals closing, schools overcrowded,jails full..housing costs are unreasonable, it would be difficult for a person/family to live in most areas without substantial income.
Personally I would love to see the displaced relocated in any unused military installations. I think the relocation of these people from NO may be the best thing that happens to them and breaks them from their poverty cycle....but they better be prepared to learn to speak Spanish....
LOL, now that's appropriate.
I was clobbered by a FReeper for including nice dresses in the clothing shipment - it would be impractical, I was told. Of course, I pointed out there are many, many proud Louisiana church going women who likely miss their Sunday dresses.

Thank God you and family are okay. You know that we are praying for everyone affected by the hurricane. It is a disaster beyond the scope of anyone to manage. I'm also praying for our President; that God will give him the strength to endure the criticism. I want to do something for him to ease the load, but I don't know what it would be. Our church is sending $1000 to the United Methodist UMCOR. It's a small church. God be with you.

Absolutely correct, I saw that same interview. So disrespectful of our President.
I meant to post to you when that came up but didn't get around to it. Not only will they want to go to church but many will also want to look for jobs. I know I personally couldn't look for work in sweats (or show up for a job that way.)

Molly Henningberg of FOX did a piece yesterday about an elderly lady at the shelter in Baton Rouge who was sad because she had always worn a white dress to church on Sunday. So some of the relief workers chipped in and bought her a lovely dressy white dress and shoes to wear today. It was a sweet story.
John Grishalm and his wife have started a relief fund for Mississippi victims-they seeded it with a $5 million donation...No more checking Grishalm's out of the library for me-I will purchase his hardback novels now (with the money that I definitely will not be spending on Celine Dion CDs.)
And it has been mentioned several times that one of the most requested items in the evacuation centers are Bibles.
You consider New Mexico, Oklahoma and Arkansas to be wealthy states? And Mississippi is one of the poorest in the country, and they are sheltering thousands from New Orleans.
Some folks have hearts, and some are heartless.
