U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.
Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.
To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.
Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage,reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.
WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.
WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.
WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.
WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.
WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.
WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).
WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.
United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.
Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

lugsoul - have you seen the Washington Post story today? Blanco didn't even request National Guard assistance from other states, despite their offering, until Wednesday. Late Wednesday, as I recall.
I have to wonder how many children and women were raped for hours as recounted by a relief worker above on this thread because Blanco didn't seem to understand the drug/gang problem that she had in New Orleans and had placed into a Dome and other shelters with improper law enforcement security.
Thanks. My old Mac won't run Flash. That's the problem. But maybe someone can extract the time-line and info so it can be read page-by-page in a browser and printed as text. That would make it available to a larger audience.
I wonder why all these people who had the resources to show up with their respective crews to get face time didn't forgo the photo ops and help with the rescue or just deliver water. Instead all they do is whine about how easy it was for them to get in and how bad it is. Sheesh, Hollyweird.
Also, and I'm not trying to be argumentative, I think an investigation will reflect that despite the head of the National Weather service begging the mayor to order a mandatory evacuation, he neglected to do so.
The mayor also made no plan to use city or commercial buses to help the poor and those without resources to a safe area.
Had the president not pressured the mayor and governor to order a mandatory evacuation, we'd be looking at untold more dead.
To add to what I said above regarding the Governor neglecting to call in additinal National Guardsmen to help with security, she also had to know what the Chief of Police in New Orleans knew. That 2/3's of his workforce either didn't show up after the hurricane or walked off the job, leaving NO with 500 policemen trying to deal with anarchy.
Guess that's why the Governor with all her forethought asked the pre-evacueees to bring their own food for the few days they might be in the Dome.
Catering to illegals and nutcases is what got your state into that mess. Texas is going to end up having well more than 250,000 refugees by Monday. California, with its vast open spaces in the north, stadiums closed by enviro nuts, and unused arenas has taken... drumroll please....

From your post that you linked me to earlier, I find the following quote in the letter from Gov. Blanco to President Bush dated Aug. 27th, before the hurricane landed:
"Pursuant to 44 CFR § 206.35, I have determined that this incident is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond the capabilities of the State and affected local governments, and that supplementary Federal assistance is necessary to save lives, protect property, public health, and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a disaster. I am specifically requesting emergency protective measures, direct Federal Assistance, Individual and Household Program (IHP) assistance, Special Needs Program assistance, and debris removal"
Am I wrong to think that this indeed was a request from Gov. Blanco to Pres. Bush for federal help before the storm hit?

If that had happened...there would have been screaming from all sorts of groups....especially if the hurricane didn't hit NO...
Besides...why have a mayor or Governor if the FEDERAL government is supposed to be responsible for everything?
I doubt it. They're going to post Texas DPS troopers on those boats.

A Freeper had suggestd cameras in the Dome, and at the time, I thought it undignified to film people in their misery.
Now that I see what evil is capable of (and where is resides), I have to rethink this assessment. I was horribly wrong. The film cameras may have deterred this evil.

10:21 P.M. - Nagin told '60 Minutes' that he did not unload on President Bush during his visit to New Orleans, like he did earlier this week on WWL Radio. The president did acknowledge, however, that federal response could have been better, Nagin said.
10:20 P.M. - Nagin on '60 Minutes' - "Did more people die because of the storm or because of the lack of response? That's the question."
10:19 P.M. - Mayor Ray Nagin on CBS' '60 Minutes' - "I watched a guy jump from the Superdome yesterday ... We've had two police officers commit suicide. ... This is hell."
