U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.

Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.

To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.

Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage, reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

Streaming Video:

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.

WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.

WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).

WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.

United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.

Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

"Perhaps if the Dems were not behaving so irrationally and didn't have a record of using any opportunty, however low, to slam this administration it would have effect."

You are exactly right. When someone starts an argument by saying, "Since it is obvious the sky is green..." you tend to dismiss the rest of his argument. Americans have eyes and ears. They heard the evacuation orders. They saw all the cars leaving New Orleans. Then the storm hit and they saw the looting start before anything started to flood. They've heard the reports of rescuers being shot at. And somehow they are supposed to believe this was a plot by the Feds to kill black people. Riiigiht. And by saying such things, the dems drag the rest of their silly arguements right into the mud. Which is where they belong.

I've said it bluntly to peoples faces that the people that stayed behind have some blame in this.

I for one don't see any reason to blame them. I'm sure most of them lived in New Orleans all or most of their lives and have been through hurricanes before. They were obviously wrong to assume this wouldn't be tragically worse, but not necessarily stupid. Didn't Fats Domino go back to ride it out with his family? And some stayed to protect their property from the looters that they may have had expected from experience. My own heart is with that Floretta (is that her name?), who would not abandon her dog; I can't imagine that I would abandon my cat.

Thank you for this update. Give her our thanks for her efforts to help and pass on our prayers for those affected.

OMG, Ellis is up telling the American people we're wrong not to blame President Bush and Feds while putting most blame on local/state! Give him off my screen!

Governor just "found out" about visit *this morning*.

Bull. She's been on television and near reporters the whole time - for her to say otherwise is a flat-out lie.

if Nagin had pulled out those school buses and given them an opportunity at transportation out of there, alot more would have left.

I know this is late but I was out of the house when I saw that helicopter crash and couldn't post.

Close to the area where the looter/Guard firefight took place earlier, but that's not conclusive by itself.

The failure took place as follows:

1. The chopper set down or was forced to set down right where it lies.

2. One of the 2 main landing gear landed on what appears to be a packed earth path, the other (left side) missed the path and dug a fair hole in soft earth and grass.

3. From the air, ground always looks flatter than it really is, but either the settling left main gear or the sloping terrain caused the main rotors to come in contact with the ground.

4. The rotor tips, spinning clockwise when viewed from above, each knocked a divot loose from the turf and threw the dirt out onto the nearby road.

5. The spaces between each rotor tip divot indicates that the lean or rollover was a quick one. A slowly leaning rotor disk would have cut a trench, not individual divots.

6. The counter torque as the rotor system came apart would tend to twist the main fuselage in counter-clockwise direction, when viewed from above, and this force may have snapped the tail structure.

7. If other forces caused the tail structure to fold up like we see, they could be related to whatever events led to a possible forced landing.

8. In a simple setdown/rollover scenario, the tail rotor would probably not impact the ground or other obstruction, but the tail rotors have obviously impacted something, as they are bent, with some blades being broken off.

9. I don't believe the tail rotor failed in flight. When that happens the entire airframe is twisting violently as it touches down, and there is no evidence of it having disturbed the surrounding ground in that manner.

10. There is more to this crash than meets the eye, because there is no visible reason for the damage to the tail rotor blades.

Dave Maraj is, I believe, a native of India who is now an American citizen. You can take a look at his photo and let me know if he qualifies as a 'racist'. (and you can also get details of what the racing teams are doing to help.)

Agreed 100%. Your point about the incredible collapse of leadership among Louisiana local and state officials and their stunningly immature behavior in time of crisis is also another important point that the majority of American already have realized and they know that this also a big cause for the problems.

"Governor just "found out" about visit *this morning*."

'Bull. She's been on television and near reporters the whole time - for her to say otherwise is a flat-out lie.'

Sounds like it's her cover story because obviously President Bush doesn't want her around after what she said about punching him (and neither would the secret service). This is a snub of the highest order we are now watching. The President doesn't suffer fools gladly.

there was a thread running where someone was trying to raise money to get the satellite photos of those school buses left to flood into an ad in the Baton Rouge newspapers. not sure if that went anywhere.

Think autorotation followed by hard landing and you get an explanation of the entire contact with the ground.

Sorry, it was Landrieu threatening to punch him, wasn't it, not Blanco. But anyway, the rest holds up. She's part of the problem not the solution.

We can guess that it has something to do with core philosophy...the Dems don't believe in empowering the state, they believe in federal control of everything.

That is an excuse, however well intentioned.

I am confidant they thought they could ride it out, but they made the wrong choice. They bear some responsibility for their choices.

It is fine to feel sympathy, I share it, and I'm aiding them but I'm responsible for the decisions I make. If I stay behind with knowledge a hurricane is coming right at me, I must accept I could possibly die. There is the reality.
