EFFORTS by Hollywood actor Sean Penn to aid New Orleans victims stranded by Hurricane Katrina foundered badly overnight, when the boat he was piloting to launch a rescue attempt sprang a leak.
Penn had planned to rescue children waylaid by Katrina's flood waters, but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.
The actor, known for his political activism, was seen wearing what appeared to be a white flak jacket and frantically bailing water out of the sinking vessel with a red plastic cup.
When the boat's motor failed to start, those aboard were forced to use paddles to propel themselves down the flooded New Orleans street.
Asked what he had hoped to achieve in the waterlogged city, the actor replied: "Whatever I can do to help."
With the boat loaded with members of Penn's entourage, including a personal photographer, one bystander taunted the actor: "How are you going to get any people in that thing?"
Cost of entourage, including photographer(s): $25,000
Cost of red plastic cup: $1, tops
Cost of beeing seen bailing out the leaky-assed boat with the plastic cup for all the world to see, probably blaming it on Bush: Priceless.
Did he use Visa or Master Card ?
"haha, I thought I was the only one who noticed the dog being dragged along the ground. Real nice..ha. Geraldo means well enough I guess. ;)"
And the security guy mean well too. He was concentrating on the elderly woman and didn't notice the dog. At least she was able to take her dog out with her. Most of the residents aren't being given this option.
If I were in NO and given the choice, I would not leave my two dogs.
So he is so stupid he did not know to put the drain plug in before he launched the freaking boat LOL
bttt. This is a "feel good" story for any FreePer with a pulse.
"You couldn't make this stuff up..."
I was sure somebody did make this up. Had to read quite a few posts before I decided it was real. LMAO!!
Semper Fi back atcha!
This is so damned funny I just don't know what to do. And it's also a clear allegory for liberalism. Why doesn't he just get that little red cup and start bailing the water out of the flooded streets? If he gets started right now, New Orleans should be dry within the next hundred thousand years ... and Sean can say it was all his doing!
Looking around nonchalantly, Penn replied, "Hole? What hole? now we see why you're the photog and I'm king of the world!"
ROFL! What a nin-cow-poop!
Which is precisely why even idiots with the best of intentions should should not be permitted to enter a danger zone -- let alone people laden with cameras and their own cheering sections. (Shades of JFK2 in Viet Nam)
My money's on Karl "The Prince of Darkness" Rove!
Go to the middle of the page (under the picture of the girl tending the baby) and read about Sean F.A.G. Not a word about the boat sinking. But you'll find out where he was going.
"The actor, known for his political activism, was...frantically bailing water out of the sinking vessel with a red plastic cup."
"the boat's motor failed to start, those aboard were forced to use paddles to propel themselves."
Do you think there could be any more metaphors in this story?
If you'd just go home, that would be great.
Picture on Drudge.
Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!
bttt
As much as Sean is an idiot about politics, you got to give him credit for trying to do something.
I get it, the boat is a metaphor for his rapidly sinking acting career (ROTLMAO)
I might have, if he hadn't brought a photographer to document his "heroics."
Looks like the members of Sean's entourage don't want to get their perfect white tennis shoes and socks dirty, so they're letting him do all the work. I'll bet the ass-chewing that Sean's entourage got later was just as funny as this picture, which almost made me blow Pepsi all over my computer and monitor.
